Awards
The open access, peer-reviewed journals Pharmaceuticals and Pharmaceutics will present awards totaling 1600 CHF for the Best Poster, Best Slideshow, Best Flash Communication, and Best Communication, as well as an award totaling 500 CHF for the Best Invited Lecture. Additionally, one participant will be granted the opportunity to engage in a One-Day Microwave Practice/Test.

31 August–4 September 2025 International Symposium on Advances in Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ASMC 2025)

Porto, Portugal

The European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (EFMC) and the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Portuguese Chemical Society will be organising the 10th edition of the International Symposium on Advances in Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ASMC 2025).

This event will take place in Porto, Portugal, from August 31 to September 4, 2025, and is planned as part of a series of successful events which started in 2004 in Moscow and most recently took place in 2017 in Vienna, 2019 in Athens and 2023 in Zagreb.

This symposium will bring together chemists from around the world and will focus on the latest advances in strategies and methodologies across synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology and drug discovery. The issue of how we enable more sustainable processes and materials alongside new opportunities to address challenging target classes with multiple success stories to clinical compounds will be presented.

4–5 September 2025 12th EFMC Young Medicinal Chemists’ Symposium (EFMC-YMCS 2025)

Porto, Portugal

The 12th edition of the EFMC Young Medicinal Chemists’ Symposium will be held in Porto, Portugal, on September 4–5, 2025. Jointly organised by the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (EFMC) and the EFMC Young Scientists Network (YSN), EFMC-YMCS will take place in connection with the X EFMC International Symposium on Advances in Synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ASMC 2025).

This short symposium has the following aims:

  • Creating a network of young European investigators;
  • Stimulating young European investigators to share their scientific work with peers and inspiring leaders in the field;
  • Creating competition and excellence within Europe by selecting the European Champion in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

The Programme of the 12th EFMC Young Medicinal Chemists’ Symposium will include the following:

  • Keynote lectures given by inspiring Early Career Researchers in the field;
  • “National Highlights” talks given by invited prize winners from national young medicinal chemist’s and chemical biologists’ meetings in Europe;
  • Oral communications and flash poster presentations selected from submitted abstracts;
  • A poster session open to any young researcher submitting an abstract;
  • A commercial exhibition;
  • Several prizes assigned at the end of the symposium.
