Sample Pretreatment and Extraction

Sample preparation has long been recognized as one of the critical points in the analytical process, highly beneficial for its potential to dramatically increase the selectivity and sensitivity of the whole workflow but also constituting a possible bottleneck that could account for up to 70% of the overall analysis time consumption. Sample pretreatment procedures can vary widely in their degree of effectiveness, size and speed, depending on the approach and conditions used. To address these challenges, the scientific community has directed considerable effort towards optimizing sample preparation procedures through development of increasingly advanced techniques aimed at maximizing recovery and eliminating interferences that could adversely impact the analysis.      

This section welcomes the submission of original manuscripts on all fundamental and applied aspects related to sample pretreatment and extraction. Potential topics include but are not limited to
