Cover Story: The terrestrial basal paravian theropod, Anchiornis, running to capture a prey or to escape from a predator, had an initial absolute velocity that was not fast enough to glide up to any tree. However, this would be feasible under the help of upslope wind. Then, the Anchiornis could easily parachute from the branch of a tree to the ground or any other lower position. Later, it could practice gliding from the top branch of one tree to another under the action of the potential energy of gravity by adjusting its orientation during gliding.
