Background: Electroencephalography (EEG) offers millisecond-precision measurement of neural oscillations underlying human cognition and emotion. Despite extensive research, systematic frameworks mapping EEG metrics to psychological constructs remain fragmented. Objective: This interdisciplinary scoping review synthesizes current knowledge linking EEG signatures to affective and cognitive models from a neuroscience perspective. Methods: We examined empirical studies employing diverse EEG methodologies, from traditional spectral analysis to deep learning approaches, across laboratory and naturalistic settings. Results: Affective states manifest through distinct frequency-specific patterns: frontal alpha asymmetry (8–13 Hz) reliably indexes emotional valence with 75–85% classification accuracy, while arousal correlates with widespread beta/gamma power changes. Cognitive processes show characteristic signatures: frontal–midline theta (4–8 Hz) increases linearly with working memory load, alpha suppression marks attentional engagement, and theta/beta ratios provide robust cognitive load indices. Machine learning approaches achieve 85–98% accuracy for subject identification and 70–95% for state classification. However, significant challenges persist: spatial resolution remains limited (2–3 cm), inter-individual variability is substantial (alpha peak frequency: 7–14 Hz range), and overlapping signatures compromise diagnostic specificity across neuropsychiatric conditions. Evidence strongly supports integrated rather than segregated processing, with cross-frequency coupling mechanisms coordinating affective–cognitive interactions. Conclusions: While EEG-based assessment of mental states shows considerable promise for clinical diagnosis, brain–computer interfaces, and adaptive technologies, realizing this potential requires addressing technical limitations, standardizing methodologies, and establishing ethical frameworks for neural data privacy. Progress demands convergent approaches combining technological innovation with theoretical sophistication and ethical consideration. Full article

This study aims to advance knowledge in the concept of therapeutic milieus by connecting nature, spirituality, and health to develop sustainable destinations. It combines the advantages of a conceptual paper and a multi-case study, offering a range of solutions demonstrated with three types of settlements: a county capital, a middle-sized town, and a small town. The GIS analysis identified several areas where the co-existence of thermal water, sacred sites, and verdant landscapes is in abundance, and five potential study areas were selected. Additional selection criteria included the GDP of the counties, visitation data, and synergy potential. Field work using field notes and photographs reconfirmed the results of the mapping and found unique value propositions that could enhance the value of health tourism. The theoretical research suggested three areas with synergy potential: culture, gastronomy, and sports. Based on the findings, a framework for therapeutic milieus showing three different scenarios was prepared. As for the economic and social implications, the research highlighted that adopting a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating insights from geography, cultural studies, and psychology, could make destinations more resilient, thus benefiting both tourists and locals. This study represents a substantial contribution to the milieu theories by incorporating natural, cultural, and spiritual elements into a flexible framework for therapeutic milieus. Future research may explore therapeutic milieus outside the Christian context or investigate the demand side. Full article

This study examines how mindful consumption contributes to sustainable marketing and consumer engagement by influencing green purchase intention and life satisfaction among Generation Z, while also assessing the moderating role of social influence. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, a survey of 1541 Thai consumers aged 18–24 was analyzed using a structural equation model and path analysis to test the mediation framework. The results show that mindful consumption significantly enhances sustainability values and purchase intentions, with sustainability values mediating the relationship between mindful consumption and both behavioral and psychological outcomes. Moreover, social influence strengthens the impact of sustainable consumption on purchase intentions, highlighting the role of peers, networks, and societal norms in promoting ethical and environmentally responsible consumer behavior. The findings extend sustainable marketing theory by highlighting mindful consumption as a driver of both behavioral (green purchase intention) and psychological (life satisfaction) outcomes. Beyond its theoretical contribution, the study offers practical insights for businesses, educators, and policymakers on fostering value-driven relationships with young consumers through mindful and socially reinforced sustainability initiatives. Promoting mindful consumption and leveraging social influence provides a pathway to engage Generation Z in sustainability-oriented lifestyles, supporting long-term consumer loyalty and achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Psychological safety (PS), knowledge management (KM), and organizational learning (OL) are increasingly recognized as critical foundations for resilient, adaptive, and innovative organizations. However, the connections among these constructs remain fragmented in the literature, making bibliometric mapping an essential step to consolidate knowledge in this domain. This study analyzes the relationships between PS, KM, and OL, identifying thematic patterns and theoretical contributions that support the integration of these constructs into organizational cultures. Drawing from empirical literature indexed in Web of Science (WoS) (2000–2025), we applied the SPIDER framework and PRISMA methodology to identify and evaluate 103 peer-reviewed articles. Using VOSviewer (version 1.6.20) and data mining techniques, we generated bibliometric networks and thematic clusters that offer a comprehensive view of the conceptual landscape. Findings reveal that PS acts as a key enabler of knowledge sharing and OL, particularly in inclusive environments with leadership support and tolerance for error. An inductively developed conceptual model illustrates how trust-driven cultures can enhance knowledge flows and reduce dysfunctional behaviors such as knowledge hiding. By mapping these intersections, the study consolidates fragmented literature and demonstrates how PS, KM, and OL contribute to sustainable learning cultures while also highlighting promising avenues for future research on collective learning and organizational resilience. The rapid popularization of digital technology is profoundly altering the employment landscape; especially in rural areas, the digital economy has opened up unprecedented channels to narrow the gender gap in non-agricultural employment. This study utilizes data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) from 2014 to 2020, employing a two-way fixed effects model to systematically examine the impact of digital literacy on the non-agricultural employment transition of rural women. The findings demonstrate that integrating social learning theory with digital empowerment theory establishes a dual-pathway analytical framework for examining psychological capital and information environments. Through skill development and resource optimization, digital literacy significantly enhances rural women’s employment participation and occupational re-adaptability, with these effects varying across regions and generations. Furthermore, the study reveals how household economic resources and regional development levels exert differential influences on these outcomes by affecting the acquisition and application of digital skills. These findings expand theoretical understanding of non-agricultural employment mechanisms in the digital era and offer practical policy insights. They also provide evidence-based strategies for enhancing women’s employment quality, advancing gender equality, and promoting rural revitalization, offering valuable guidance for developing countries navigating employment challenges through digital transformation. This article introduces the ATHENA competency model, a systemic framework designed to conceptualize and support the development of creativity and complex skills in professional and educational contexts. Creativity, increasingly seen as essential across sectors, requires the coordination of cognitive, motivational, emotional, social, and sensorimotor resources. ATHENA conceptualizes competencies as emergent, agentic behaviors, not static possessions, arising from the coordination of five dimensions: cognition, conation, knowledge, emotion, and sensorimotion. These are subdivided into 60 facets, each described across four progressive mastery levels, enabling fine-grained diagnosis and developmental roadmaps. To operationalize this framework, ATHENA includes three modules: Skills, which models the requirements of professional tasks; Profile, which analyzes learner populations and contextual constraints; and LEARN, a repertory of pedagogical activities linked to ATHENA facets. The article illustrates the system through two case studies of creative job activities—graphic design and workshop facilitation—demonstrating how ATHENA aligns abstract competencies with practical training interventions. The model bridges theoretical research in psychology, creativity, and education with instructional design. Future work aims to refine its applicability, scalability, and cross-cultural relevance. Background/Objectives: Patients in palliative care often experience multifaceted forms of suffering that extend beyond physical symptoms, including existential distress, loss of meaning, and emotional pain. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) has emerged as a promising intervention for alleviating such complex forms of suffering, yet models specifically tailored to palliative populations remain scarce. This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on ketamine’s neurobiological, psychological, and experiential effects relevant to end-of-life care, and presents a novel, time-limited KAP model designed for use in palliative settings. Methods: Drawing from both biochemical and psychedelic paradigms, the review integrates findings from neuroscience, phenomenology, and clinical practice. In particular, it incorporates a dual-level experiential framework informed by recent models distinguishing ketamine’s differential effects on self-processing networks: the Salience Network (SN), related to embodied self-awareness, and the Default Mode Network (DMN), associated with narrative self-construction. This neurophenomenological perspective underpins the rationale for using two distinct dosing sessions. Results: The article proposes a short-course, time-limited KAP model that integrates preparatory and integrative psychotherapy, two ketamine dosing sessions (one low-dose and one moderate-dose), concurrent psychotherapy, goals of care discussion (GOCD), and optional pharmacological optimization. The model emphasizes psychological safety, meaning-making, and patient-centered care. The sequential dosing strategy leverages ketamine’s unique pharmacology and experiential profile to address both bodily and narrative dimensions of end-of-life distress. Conclusions: This dissociative-psychedelic model offers a compassionate, pragmatic, and theoretically grounded approach to relieving psychological and existential suffering in palliative care. By integrating neurobiological insights with psychotherapeutic processes, it provides a flexible and patient-centered framework for enhancing meaning, emotional resolution, and quality of life at the end of life. Further research is needed to evaluate its clinical feasibility, safety, and therapeutic efficacy. Full article

Ritual prayer (ṣalāh) is one of the most central and enduring practices in Islam, widely recognized for its spiritual significance. However, its educational and formative role in shaping the Muslim’s inner self and moral identity remains insufficiently explored in contemporary scholarship. This paper aims to examine ritual prayer as a core pedagogical tool within Islamic education, focusing on its transformative power in the processes of self-purification (tazkiyah) and identity formation. The study seeks to analyze the ethical and psychological dimensions of ṣalāh, drawing on classical Islamic sources, as well as integrating insights from contemporary critical philosophy—particularly Byung-Chul Han’s Vita Contemplativa—and Islamic virtue ethics, including perspectives such as those advanced by Elizabeth Bucar. Through this framework, the paper explores how prayer shapes inner dispositions like humility, mindfulness, sincerity, patience, and submission, reinforcing both spiritual awareness and communal belonging. Employing a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study engages Qur’anic verses, prophetic traditions, and traditional pedagogical literature to investigate how ṣalāh functions as a lived and repeated experience that cultivates the soul and molds ethical behavior. The discussion highlights how regular performance of prayer integrates belief with action and contributes to the formation of a reflective and morally grounded Muslim identity. This paper contributes to the field of Islamic Practical Theology by demonstrating how ritual prayer operates as a dynamic and holistic model for moral and spiritual development. It provides educators and scholars with a theoretical and applied vision for incorporating ṣalāh-based character education into Islamic curricula. This review synthesizes research from cognitive psychology and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to propose a new conceptual framework for understanding and fostering international student success. It argues that traditional EAP approaches, while effective in developing analytical intelligence—evidenced by a focus on critical reading, argumentation, and source-based writing—provide an incomplete model for the multifaceted demands of global academia. Drawing on Robert Sternberg’s Triarchic Theory of Intelligence, this paper posits that “successful intelligence,” defined as the capacity to achieve one’s goals within a specific sociocultural context, is a more holistic and ecologically valid construct. It depends equally on creative intelligence (e.g., formulating novel research ideas, adapting to unfamiliar academic genres) and practical intelligence (e.g., navigating academic norms, acquiring tacit knowledge, demonstrating pragmatic competence in communication). This paper conducts a critical review of pedagogical practices within EAP that implicitly or explicitly cultivate these three interdependent intelligences. After providing a balanced overview of Sternberg’s theory, including its scholarly critiques, this review broadens its theoretical lens to incorporate complementary perspectives from sociocultural approaches to academic literacies. It systematically maps specific EAP tasks—such as source-based synthesis essays (analytical), research proposals for occluded genres (creative), and simulations of academic email communication (practical)—onto the components of the triarchic model. Drawing on this analysis, the paper concludes by proposing an integrated pedagogical framework, the “Triarchic EAP Model.” This model consciously balances the development of analytical, creative, and practical abilities through integrated tasks, explicit scaffolding, and a focus on transferability. It offers a more holistic approach to student support and strategically positions the EAP classroom as a unique environment for the cultivation and assessment of the multifaceted intellectual skills required for sustainable success in 21st-century global academia. Positive childhood experiences (PCEs) are increasingly recognized as critical factors that promote resilience, emotional regulation, and flourishing in children, especially in the context of adversity. This narrative review explores the conceptual development, empirical evidence, and theoretical frameworks underpinning the role of PCEs in early childhood development. A critical assessment of the existing literature focuses on how PCEs function as promotive and protective factors and evaluates the strengths and limitations of current measurement tools. Drawing on theories from resilience science, developmental psychopathology, positive psychology, and ecological systems theory, this review highlights the complex, multidimensional nature of PCEs and their interplay with parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and the social drivers of health. Despite compelling evidence that PCEs influence cognitive, emotional, relational, and behavioral outcomes across the lifespan, there is no dedicated validated tool for prospectively measuring PCEs in preverbal or preschool-aged children. This gap limits our ability to design and test interventions to mitigate adverse childhood experiences and to assess their developmental impact in real time and subsequent periods. We conclude that future research should focus on creating culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate instruments to measure PCEs in early life, essential for advancing equity, optimizing child health, and promoting wellness across diverse populations. Plant-based meat alternatives (PBMAs) are gaining momentum in response to rising demand for sustainable and healthier diets. Drawing on an integrated framework combining the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Value–Attitude–Behavior (VAB) model, this study explores key determinants shaping consumers’ purchase intention towards PBMAs in Taiwan. This study performed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and necessary condition analysis (NCA) to evaluate the formation of consumers’ PBMA purchase intention. The PLS-SEM results revealed that both environmental consciousness and health consciousness exert a significant influence on consumer attitudes, which, together with subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, positively predict purchase intention. fsQCA revealed six distinct combinations of conditions leading to high purchase intention, while NCA identified environmental consciousness, health consciousness, and the three TPB components as necessary conditions. The results highlight the mediating role of attitude and underscore the value of integrating multiple analytical perspectives to capture the complexity of consumer decision-making. This research advances both theoretical understanding and practical application by elucidating the psychological mechanisms underpinning PBMA adoption and by providing evidence-based implications for strategic marketing within the plant-based food sector. This study examines the perceived utility of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), particularly ChatGPT, in the development of final degree projects across diverse academic disciplines. Drawing on a mixed-methods design, the research involved eleven final-year undergraduate students who participated in structured sessions integrating GenAI tools into distinct project phases. Quantitative and qualitative data revealed heterogeneous perceptions of GenAI’s utility, with theoretical framework development rated most favorably and visual presentation tasks least useful. Disciplinary variations were pronounced; students from Chemical Engineering and Psychology reported higher engagement, while those in Philosophy and Computer Science expressed greater skepticism. To ensure methodological rigor, AI-driven linguistic analysis of oral discourse confirmed participant homogeneity in academic maturity, supporting the attribution of perceptual differences to disciplinary and task-specific variables rather than individual disparities. The findings underscore the need for context-sensitive integration of GenAI in higher education, balancing its potential as a cognitive amplifier with critical evaluation of its limitations. This article explores how Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Speech-to-Text (STT) technologies are being harnessed in education to enhance accessibility, language development, and overall learner engagement. Drawing upon theoretical frameworks in linguistics and educational psychology, we highlight the benefits TTS and STT can offer to diverse student populations, including students with disabilities, language learners, and those seeking personalized or self-paced instruction. We discuss methods for integrating TTS and STT into the classroom (hardware, software, and practical considerations) and offer case studies of effective implementations in areas such as literacy support, foreign language acquisition, and assessment. We then address the pedagogical benefits these tools provide—such as differentiated instruction, immediate feedback, and a heightened sense of learner autonomy—along with limitations and challenges that educators may encounter. In conclusion, we suggest future directions for research and practice, underscoring the importance of teacher training, ethical considerations, and ever-evolving advancements in natural language processing. In the context of China’s increasingly competitive agricultural product branding, authenticity has become a pivotal mechanism for shaping consumer trust and willingness to pay. This study takes Perceived Brand Authenticity (PBA) as its focal construct and builds a chained mediation framework incorporating experiential quality (EQ) and consumer trust. Employing a dual-evidence strategy that combines structural discovery and causal validation, the study integrates Jaccard similarity clustering and PLS-SEM to examine both behavioral patterns and psychological mechanisms. Drawing on 636 valid survey responses from across China, the results reveal clear segmentation in channel choice, certification concern, and premium acceptance by gender, age, income, and education. Younger and highly educated consumers rely more on e-commerce and digital traceability, while middle-aged, older, and higher-income groups emphasize geographical indications and organic certification. The empirical analysis confirms that PBA has a significant positive effect on EQ and consumer trust, and that the chained mediation pathway “PBA → EQ → Trust → Purchase Intention” robustly captures the transmission mechanism of authenticity. The findings demonstrate that verifiable and consistent authenticity signals not only shape cross-group consumption structures but also strengthen trust and repurchase intentions through enhanced experiential quality. The core contribution of this study lies in advancing an evidence-based framework for sustainable agricultural branding. Theoretically, it reconceptualizes authenticity as a measurable governance mechanism rather than a rhetorical construct. Methodologically, it introduces a dual-evidence approach integrating Jaccard clustering and PLS-SEM to bridge structural and causal analyses. Practically, it proposes two governance tools—“evidence density” and “experiential variance”—which translate authenticity into actionable levers for precision marketing, trust management, and policy regulation. Together, these insights offer a replicable model for authenticity governance and consumer trust building in sustainable agri-food systems. Full article

The influence of lighting color on food is a multidimensional process, linking visual interventions with people’s perception of food appearance, physiological responses, and psychological associations. This study, as a preliminary exploratory research, aims to initially investigate the effects of different lighting colors on food-induced consumer appetite and emotional perception. By measuring consumers’ physiological facial expression data, we verify whether the results are consistent with self-reported subjective evaluations. Questionnaires, Shapiro–Wilk tests, and one-sample t-tests were employed for data mining and cross-validation and combined with generalized facial expression recognition (GFER) technology to analyze participants’ emotional perceptions under various lighting colors. The results show that consumers displayed the most positive emotions and the highest appetite under 2700 K warm white light. Under this condition, the average intensity of participants’ “happy” emotion was 0.25 (SD = 0.12), indicating a clear positive emotional state. Eating willingness also reached its peak at 2700 K. In contrast, blue light-induced negative emotions and lower appetite. Among all lighting types, blue light evoked the strongest “sad” emotion (M = 0.39). This study provides a preliminary exploration of the theoretical framework regarding the relationship between food and consumer behavior, offering new perspectives for product marketing in the food industry and consumer food preference cognition. However, the generalizability of its conclusions still requires further verification in subsequent studies. Full article
