This study examines the evolving use of social software to combat online disinformation by investigating Weibo users’ attitudes toward IP location disclosure as a measure of transparency and trustworthiness. We analyzed 49,579 posts (April 2022 to May 2023) from Weibo users about IP location disclosure, categorized the topics using LDA topic modeling within the frameworks of communication privacy management, the networked public sphere, and digital democracy, and conducted sentiment analysis. We constructed separate semantic networks for positive and negative terms to examine co-occurrence patterns. The results show that Weibo users are generally negative about this policy, as IP location may reveal personally identifiable information about individuals involved in discussions of online social/political events. Mandatory transparency, while intended to enhance accountability, functions as a mandatory visibility regime that reshapes privacy boundaries and undermines inclusive deliberation. The findings contribute to the exploration of the impact of government-mandatory information privacy disclosure policies on the implementation of platform functionality, as well as changes in user sentiment, information behavior, and components of social media discourse. Community engagement is a critical aspect of rural teacher recruitment, retention, and preservice placements. To better understand what community engagement may be for teachers, this article explores why rural teachers engage or do not engage with their local sporting club. The study, set in a small town in rural Australia, uses a semi-autoethnographic approach, combining personal experiences with fieldwork and interviews. Rural teachers’ engagement with local sporting clubs is influenced by their understanding of the club’s role in community life and their personal affinity for rural lifestyles. Findings reveal that engagement is often tied to teachers’ love of sports, family traditions, and desire to contribute to community sustainability. The club provides opportunities for building relationships and developing local knowledge (mētis), which is crucial for navigating rural social spaces. However, challenges exist, including managing professional boundaries, time commitments, and potential conflicts. Non-engagement may stem from personal preferences, unfamiliarity with local traditions, or concerns about maintaining professional distance. Understanding the nuanced role of sporting clubs as anchor institutions in rural communities is vital for teachers’ professional and social integration, regardless of their level of direct involvement. Background: Human care represents the essence of nursing but faces challenges from increasing technological advancement and healthcare system bureaucratization. Objective: To understand how nursing students balance technical demands with human aspects of care during pre-professional practice experiences. Methods: An interpretive phenomenological study was conducted with 17 nursing students (12 women, 5 men) in their eighth and ninth semesters from a public university in northern Ecuador. The data were collected through focused interviews during the first quarter of 2025. Analysis followed a four-stage phenomenological process: epoché, phenomenological reduction, eidetic reduction, and transcendental reduction, culminating in phenomenological interpretation. Data saturation was achieved, and methodological rigor criteria were applied including triangulation with external analysts. Results: Six main strategies emerged that students develop to balance technical demands with humanized care: Time Management and Optimization, Integration of Human and Technical Dimensions, Patient Communication About Time Constraints, Emotional Regulation and Boundary Setting, Resistance to Dehumanization, and Institutional Context Adaptation. Students transform technical procedures into therapeutic opportunities and develop resilient competencies that preserve nursing’s humanistic values. Conclusions: Nursing students develop integrative competencies that balance technical excellence with human sensitivity. Curriculum modifications are needed to include specific competencies in emotional regulation, therapeutic communication, and dehumanization resistance strategies. Full article

Over the past decade, many software enterprises have migrated from monolithic to microservice architectures to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performance. However, this transition presents significant challenges, requiring considerable development efforts, research, customization, and resource allocation over extended periods. Furthermore, the success of migration is not guaranteed, highlighting the complexities organizations face in modernizing their software systems. To address these challenges, this study introduces Mono2Micro, a comprehensive framework designed to automate the migration process while preserving structural integrity and optimizing service boundaries. The framework focuses on three core patterns: database patterns, service decomposition, and communication patterns. It leverages machine learning algorithms, including Random Forest and Louvain clustering, to analyze database query patterns along with static and dynamic database model analysis, which enables the identification of relationships between models, facilitating the systematic decomposition of microservices while ensuring efficient inter-service communication. To validate its effectiveness, Mono2Micro was applied to a student information system for faculty management, demonstrating its ability to streamline the migration process while maintaining functional integrity. The proposed framework offers a systematic and scalable solution for organizations and researchers seeking efficient migration from monolithic systems to microservices. Full article

In response to the growing relevance of shared housing models such as co-living and co-housing, this study investigates how spatial configuration affects the experience and negotiation of privacy in shared domestic environments. While privacy is often treated as a subjective or cultural concern, this research adopts a spatial perspective to examine its morphological underpinnings. Using space syntax methods, the study analyses contemporary shared housing models, focusing on three shared housing developments in Barcelona. Through Visual Graph Analysis (VGA), spatial parameters, including integration, through vision, control, and controllability values, are applied to assess the degree of accessibility, visibility, and spatial separation within and between private and communal areas. The results reveal distinct configurational patterns that correlate with different privacy gradients, identifying how spatial arrangement enables or restricts autonomy and co-presence among residents. The study concludes that privacy in shared housing is not only a matter of design intention but is embedded in the spatial logic of dwelling morphology: exposed and controlled spaces provide less privacy but enhance sociability, while spatial elements such as boundaries and transitions play an important role in managing privacy gradation and degrees. These findings offer a framework for understanding and designing shared living environments that are better attuned to the complexities of everyday privacy needs. Full article

Improving the water productivity and sustainability of global food supplies and reducing water stress worldwide requires a comprehensive and consistent assessment of water use in global food production systems, including livestock production and supply chains. Presented here is a systematic review of relevant livestock water use studies, published over two periods: “Period 1993–2017” and “Period 2018–2024”, assessing consistency in their approaches and identifying opportunities for advancing and harmonizing the assessment of livestock water use worldwide. However, the review highlights that a comprehensive and consistent assessment of livestock water use remains a challenge. The reviewed studies (a total of 317) differ in terms of their accounting of different water flows, setting the system boundaries, and quantification of water productivity and impact metrics. This makes it difficult to compare potential water productivity and environmental impacts of livestock production systems at different scales and locations. Case studies are required to further develop and implement a robust and consistent methodological approach, based on locally calibrated models and databases, of different livestock production systems in different agroclimatic conditions. Also, further communication and training are required to help build the capability to apply a comprehensive and consistent assessment of livestock water use locally and globally. The adoption of a scientifically robust and practically applicable methodological framework will support researchers, policy managers, farmers, and business leaders in sound decision-making to improve the productivity and sustainability of water use in livestock production systems locally and globally. Conventional wildfire assessment products emphasize regional-scale ignition likelihood and potential spread derived from fuels and weather. While useful for broad planning, they do not directly support boundary-aware, scenario-specific decision-making for localized threats to communities in the Wildland–Urban Interface (WUI). This limitation constrains the ability of fire managers to effectively prioritize mitigation efforts and response strategies for ignition events that may lead to severe local impacts. This paper introduces WUI-BTI—a scenario-based, simulation-driven boundary-threat index for the Wildland–Urban Interface that quantifies consequences conditional on an ignition under standardized meteorology, rather than estimating risk. WUI-BTI evaluates ignition locations—referred to as Fire Amplification Sites (FAS)—based on their potential to compromise the defined boundary of a community. For each ignition location, a high-resolution fire spread simulation is conducted. The resulting fire perimeter dynamics are analyzed to extract three key metrics: (1) the minimum distance of fire approach to the community boundary (Dmin) for non-breaching fires; and for breaching fires, (2) the time required for the fire to reach the boundary (Tp), and (3) the total length of the community boundary affected by the fire (Lc). These raw outputs are mapped through monotone, sigmoid-based transformations to yield a single, interpretable score: breaching fires are scored by the product of an inverse-time urgency term and an extent term, whereas non-breaching fires are scored by proximity alone. The result is a continuous boundary-threat surface that ranks ignition sites by their potential to rapidly and substantially compromise a community boundary. By converting complex simulation outputs into scenario-specific, boundary-aware intelligence, WUI-BTI provides a transparent, quantitative basis for prioritizing fuel treatments, pre-positioning suppression resources, and guiding protective strategies in the WUI for fire managers, land use planners, and emergency response agencies. The framework complements regional hazard layers (e.g., severity classifications) by resolving fine-scale, consequence-focused priorities for specific communities. Full article

Surface water resources are under growing pressure from urbanization, industrial activity, and agriculture, making effective monitoring essential for safeguarding ecological integrity and human use. Conventional monitoring methods, which rely on manual sampling and rigid Water Quality Index (WQI) categories, often provide delayed feedback and oversimplify conditions near classification thresholds, limiting their usefulness for timely management. To overcome these shortcomings, we have developed an interactive fuzzy logic-based water quality monitoring interface or dashboard that integrates the WQI developed by Malaysia’s Department of Environment with the National Water Quality Standards (NWQS) Class I–V framework. The interface combines conventional WQI computation with advanced visualization tools such as dynamic gauges, parameter tables, fuzzy membership graphs, scatter plots, heatmaps, and bar charts. Then, triangular membership functions map six key parameters to NWQS classes, providing smoother and more nuanced interpretation compared to rigid thresholds. In addition to that, the dashboard enables clearer communication of trends, supports timely decision-making, and demonstrates adaptability for broader applications since it is implemented on the Replit platform. Finally, evaluation results show that the fuzzy interface improves interpretability by resolving ambiguities in over 15% of cases near class boundaries and facilitates faster assessment of pollution trends compared to conventional reporting. Thus, these contributions highlight the necessity and value of the research on advancing Malaysia’s national water quality monitoring and providing a scalable framework for international contexts. The current study examined the impression management gap between sustainability and management reports, which in this study serves as a proxy for greenwashing in sustainability reporting. The study sample comprised 192 reports from 24 companies, covering the period 2020–2023. Impression management gaps were estimated across four dimensions—tone, analytical thinking, authenticity, and clout—using textual analysis with the Linguistic Inquiry Word Count software. Our findings reveal significant impression management gaps for tone, clout, and analytics dimensions throughout the entire research sample, confirming a more pronounced use of impression management techniques in sustainability reporting. Despite increasing regulatory pressure during the study period, the calculated gaps did not show signs of decreasing. The results further indicate a high likelihood of greenwashing in the Services and Manufacturing sectors, and a lower likelihood in the Utilities sector. Such gaps risk misleading stakeholders by shaping perceptions that diverge from a company’s actual sustainability practices. Our findings suggest that greenwashing can be effectively detected through textual analysis of disclosures, particularly when conducting comparative studies between different reports. Building on these results, we argue that targeted reporting standards, advanced assurance methodologies, and clearer boundaries for impression management are essential to curbing greenwashing and strengthening the integrity of sustainability communication. This study attends to employees’ boundary-setting enactments during workplace resocialization following parental leave in the United States. We qualitatively analyzed the work/life boundary-setting enactments of 16 employees who returned to the workplace following parental leave using the dialectical lens of control (organizational assimilation) and resistance (individualization). Findings illustrate how employees managed tensions that generated an overarching work/life paradox during organizational resocialization across identity, time, and topic boundary-setting stressors. Employees’ tensioned enactments illustrated a control/resistance dialectic whereby paradoxical responses (vacillating, integrating, and/or balancing) were used to align with professional norms or privilege a working parent identity. This study contributes to paradox research and the model of organizational socialization to deepen our theoretical understanding of how resocialization is a communication process where managing work/life paradoxical responses to identity, time, and topic stressors can attenuate dialectical organizational tensions. Furthermore, we offer practical recommendations for organizations, supervisors, and individuals to productively understand and approach tensions. Full article

The Lunayyir Volcanic Field (Harrat Lunayyir), located on the western boundary of the Arabian Microplate, comprises a Quaternary volcanic region featuring approximately 150 volcanoes formed from around 700 vents. In 2009, a significant volcano-seismic event occurred, resulting in the formation of a nearly 20 km long fissure. Geophysical modeling has demonstrated that this area lies above an eruptible magma system, unequivocally confirming ongoing volcanic activity. Recent geological mapping and age determinations have further established the field as a young Quaternary volcanic landscape. Notably, the 2009 event provided critical evidence of the region’s volcanic activity and underscored the potential to connect its volcanic geoheritage with hazard mitigation strategies. The volcanic field displays diverse features, including effusive eruptions—primarily pāhoehoe and ‘a‘ā lava flows—and explosive structures such as spatter ramparts and multi-crater scoria cones. While effusive eruptions are most common and exert long-term impacts, explosive eruptions tend to be less intense; however, some events have reached a Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) of 4, distributing ash up to 250 km. Recognizing the geoheritage and geodiversity of the area may enhance resilience to volcanic hazards through geoconservation, educational initiatives, managed visitation, and establishment of a geoheritage reserve to preserve site conditions. Hazards associated with this dispersed monogenetic volcanic field manifest with recurrence intervals ranging from centuries to millennia, presenting challenges for effective communication. Although eruptions are infrequent, they have the potential to impact regional infrastructure. Documentation of volcanic geoheritage supports hazard communication efforts. Within the northern development sector, 26 geosites have been identified, 22 of which pertain to the Quaternary basaltic volcanic field, each representing a specific hazard and contributing vital information for resilience planning. Compared to non-smart communities, smart communities expand the boundaries of community management and provide a platform for the deep integration of fitness and health. However, a single-entity governance model reduces the management efficiency of smart communities and hinders the realization of fitness-health integration within them. A collaborative governance model involving governments, businesses, social organizations, and residents replaces the traditional linear governance model that relies on a single entity through resource integration. This study, based on collaborative governance theory, employs three scenario-based experimental designs and quantitative analysis, with Xiamen’s smart city community and non-smart urban village community as research subjects. It explores the multistakeholder collaborative governance model for the deep integration of fitness and health, compares the differences in fitness-health integration between smart communities and non-smart communities, and measures the effectiveness differences between multistakeholder collaborative governance and single-entity governance models. The findings indicate: (1) Residents in smart communities have higher satisfaction with comprehensive fitness-health services; (2) Residents in smart communities perceive shorter psychological distances when engaging in fitness-health activities compared to non-smart environments; (3) The governance model moderates the impact of psychological distance on service satisfaction. Compared to the single-actor model, multiactor collaborative governance more effectively enhances perceived psychological proximity and improves satisfaction. The research findings contribute theoretically to advancing understanding of collaborative governance theory while expanding the application of the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the construal level theory in the context of community governance. Practically, they offer insights for public policymakers to optimize resource allocation and for community managers to strengthen digital governance. Full article

In recent years, self-autonomous intelligent transportation applications such as drones and autonomous vehicles have seen rapid development and deployment across various countries. Within the domain of artificial intelligence, self-autonomous agents are defined as software entities capable of independently operating drones in an intelligent transport system (ITS) without human intervention. The integration of these agents into autonomous vehicles and their deployment across distributed cloud networks have increased significantly. These systems, which include drones, ground vehicles, and aircraft, are used to perform a wide range of tasks such as delivering passengers and packages within defined operational boundaries. Despite their growing utility, practical implementations face significant challenges stemming from the heterogeneity of network resources, as well as persistent issues related to security, privacy, and processing costs. To overcome these challenges, this study proposes a novel blockchain-enabled self-autonomous intelligent transport system designed for drone workflow applications. The proposed system architecture is based on a remote method invocation (RMI) client–server model and incorporates a serverless computing framework to manage processing costs. Termed the self-autonomous blockchain-enabled cost-efficient system (SBECES), the framework integrates a client and system agent mechanism governed by Q-learning and deep-learning-based policies. Furthermore, it incorporates a blockchain-based hash validation and fault-tolerant (HVFT) mechanism to ensure data integrity and operational reliability. A deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-enabled adaptive scheduler is utilized to manage drone workflow execution while meeting quality of service (QoS) constraints, including deadlines, cost-efficiency, and security. The overarching objective of this research is to minimize the total processing costs that comprise execution, communication, and security overheads, while maximizing operational rewards and ensuring the timely execution of drone-based tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves a 30% reduction in processing costs and a 29% improvement in security and privacy compared to existing state-of-the-art solutions. This paper examines how early Confucianism reinterpreted sacrificial rites and reconstructed the relationship between humans and spirits through the lens of qing (情, sentiment). Traditional scholarship often views the Confucian reinterpretation of sacrifice as a shift from religious belief to a human-centered framework of rationality, morality, and humanism—emphasizing its role in moral education and social governance and thereby marginalizing or even denying the existence of guishen (鬼神, spirits and deities) and the transcendent realm they represent. Although some scholars have emphasized the religious dimensions of Confucianism, few have addressed how Confucians managed to affirm the existence of spirits while simultaneously endowing sacrificial rites with moral and humanistic meaning—that is, how they navigated the inherent tension between the human and the divine realms. Against this background, this study argues that early Confucians neither denied the existence of spirits nor reduced sacrifice to a purely ethical or political instrument. By contrast, they regarded human sentiment as the universal foundation of sacrificial practice and, through a profound and creative transformation, redirected the meaning of sacrifice toward the human world (rendao 人道), thereby establishing a new model of human–divine relations—one that affirms human agency and dignity while preserving the sanctity of the spiritual. Drawing on close readings of classical Confucian texts such as The Analects, The Book of Rites, and Xunzi, this paper identifies three core dimensions of sacrificial sentiment: remembrance, gratitude, and reverence and awe. Together, these sentiments form a relational structure between humans and guishen that enables communication and interaction while maintaining clear boundaries. In this way, Confucian sacrificial rites become a space for emotional expression without degenerating into a “carnival of emotions” or transgressing the proper separation between the human and the divine. Confucian sacrificial thought thus affirms human dignity and moral agency while upholding the transcendence of the sacred. Full article

Over-the-air federated learning (Air-FL) has emerged as a promising paradigm that integrates communication and learning, which offers significant potential to enhance model training efficiency and optimize communication resource utilization. This paper addresses the challenge of interference management in multi-cell Air-FL systems, focusing on parallel multi-task scenarios where each cell independently executes distinct training tasks. We begin by analyzing the impact of aggregation errors on local model performance within each cell, aiming to minimize the cumulative optimality gap across all cells. To this end, we formulate an optimization framework that jointly optimizes device transmit power and denoising factors. Leveraging the Pareto boundary theory, we design a centralized optimization scheme that characterizes the trade-offs in system performance. Building upon this, we propose a distributed power control optimization scheme based on interference temperature (IT). This approach decomposes the globally coupled problem into locally solvable subproblems, thereby enabling each cell to adjust its transmit power independently using only local channel state information (CSI). To tackle the non-convexity inherent in these subproblems, we first transform them into convex problems and then develop an analytical solution framework grounded in Lagrangian duality theory. Coupled with a dynamic IT update mechanism, our method iteratively approximates the Pareto optimal boundary. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms baseline methods in terms of training convergence speed, cross-cell performance balance, and test accuracy. Moreover, it achieves stable convergence within a limited number of iterations, which validates its practicality and effectiveness in multi-task edge intelligence systems. Full article
