Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, “Experimental Profiling and Predictive Control of Microbial Communities in Wastewater”, will host research articles, communications, and reviews focusing on the latest investigation to characterize biodiversity of microbial communities in wastewater under different environmental conditions, along with development of predictive models to quantitatively understand microbial interactions. This Special Issue will focus on experimental studies, including traditional characterization of wastewater consortia and novel high-throughput methods such as metagenomics, metabolomics, phenomics, and transcriptomics. The ultimate scope of this Special Issue is to develop or identify useful datasets to perform mathematical modeling, crucial for quantitative understanding of the interaction of multiple organisms during wastewater treatment and their response to changing environments. Additionally, authors can focus on how available experimental datasets can be integrated with kinetic, metabolic, and machine learning modeling to develop predictive controls that will enable the adoption of rational strategies for wastewater treatment around the globe. This Special Issue will include the latest literature and research regarding microbial interactions in wastewater as well as development of new methods for mathematical modeling.
