Position Description: The Department of Pharmacology at Stony Brook University, New York is seeking a full-time, motivated and talented Research Assistant to join an exciting research opportunity in the laboratory of Dr. Chioma Okeoma.
The incumbent will be part of a group of NIH funded researchers investigating the i) role of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates in HIV/SIV induced inflammation and barrier dysfunction, and ii) how the use of illicit drugs alter the composition and functions of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates.
Annual Salary Range: Salary is based on Pay scale at Stony Brook University.
Proposed Start Date: Immediate
Percent Time: 100%
Salary: Commensurate with experience and in conformity with Stony Brook University stipend levels.
Education Requirement: Bachelor of Science Degree in Biotechnology or related field.
Required Qualifications:
• Strong background in extracellular vesicles and immunology, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics
• Ability to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments
• Ability to work in collaboration with other members of the laboratory
• Ability to multi-task
• Experience in chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods
• Experience developing methods/assays and related instrumentation, is a plus
