Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, as the information society has developed, it has faced frequent attacks and security issues. The information system in its purest form requires symmetry and balance, hence system security issues should be prevented and addressed. In the field of software security, the automatic detection of software vulnerabilities is a very important topic. At present, most IoT (Internet of things) systems and intelligent software are built based on open-source software, thereby holding hidden security risks. Attackers can exploit software vulnerabilities to invade or destroy the IoT Systems and intelligent software, which poses a threat to the reliability, integrity, and access control of the system or data.
The IoT Systems have been deeply integrated with all aspects of the national economy, including people's livelihoods. Software is an important enabling component in the IoT Systems. If there are security vulnerabilities in the software system, it can easily be exploited by attackers of the IoT Systems in the network environment, resulting in disastrous consequences. Therefore, focusing on software vulnerability detection for IoT Systems and intelligent software is an important research topic, making it possible to find and eliminate software vulnerabilities in the intelligent IoT Systems in time.
This Special Issue aims to attract top-quality original research and review articles covering the latest ideas, techniques, and empirical findings related to the software vulnerability detection approach for IoT systems and Intelligence software.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Software vulnerability detection theory and technology;
- IoT systems security technology;
- Analysis on vulnerability characteristics of IoT software;
- Vulnerability detection method for IoT software;
- Intelligent software security analysis;
- Vulnerability detection technology for intelligent software;
- Software vulnerability detection technology based on deep learning;
- Software vulnerability detection technology based on source code;
- Software security testing technology;
- Software testing technology;
- IoT security situational awareness;
- Cyber-Physical Systems security testing;
- Other software security-related topics.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
