Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Environmental issues linked to climate change and natural resource overuse are current and growing areas of concern. Economic approaches allow emphasizing what is at stake and identifying key solutions to cope with these issues, through market-based and informational instruments, e.g., taxes, subsidies, cap and trade schemes, payments for ecosystem services (PES), as well as non-market-based instruments, e.g., green nudge design or social norms. This enables us to found suitable public policies whilst taking into account a set of features such as ecosystem-based management and human behaviors. The aim of this Special Issue of Sustainability is then to highlight recent trends in environmental and resource economics to provide insights for sustainable paths at the global and local scales.

Both theoretical and empirical papers (original research) are welcome, especially (non-exclusive) relying on bioeconomic modeling, game theoretical approaches, non-market valuation (stated preferences), impact assessment, and behavioral and experimental economics. Reviews and opinion papers are also welcome. Topics include, among others, pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, land-use change (including agricultural change, deforestation and urbanization), ecosystem service valuation and nature’s contribution to people (NCP), biodiversity conservation and offsetting, and renewable and nonrenewable resource management.
