Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The need to ensure sustainability to preserve our planet has led to the demand for sustainability in manufacturing. The demand for sustainable particles has risen in recent years, due to their wide application in industries such as the energy, drug delivery, personal care, and agricultural industries. The formulation and manufacturing of such particles, therefore, must imbibe characteristics of being inherently biodegradable and compatible with the systems to which they are to be used and discarded.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a much-needed interdisciplinary platform for the presentation of new frontiers in the research of sustainable particle manufacturing, ranging from the nano- to macro scale.

We invite researchers in this field to submit their original papers for inclusion in this Special Issue. This Special Issue will focus on all aspects of sustainable particle manufacturing, including but not limited to:

  1. Sorbents for separation and purification
  2. Polymeric catalysts for energy and environmental applications
  3. Polymeric energy storage materials
  4. Biodegradable particles for drug delivery
  5. Biodegradable particles for agricultural soil remediation
  6. Biodegradable particles for plant fortification
  7. Biodegradable particles in personal care
  8. Biodegradable particles for tissue regeneration
  9. Support particles for 3D meat printing
  10. Enzyme immobilization particles
  11. Particles for the detection of pollutants
  12. Antimicrobial particles
  13. Antifouling particles for coatings
  14. Sustainable particles for wear-resistant, UV protective, self-cleaning/superhydrophobic, gas-barrier/filtration coatings

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
