Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The sustainable management of the Earth’s natural resources, ensuring the protection of the global environment, is a key component of effective and successful sustainable development approaches and the central goal of sustainability (the others being economic growth and social equity). This Special Issue of Sustainability will focus on the environmental protection dimension of sustainable development, and aims to cast the net widely, welcoming research papers that cover a broad range of topics related to issues surrounding the use of environmental and natural resources and that employ an assortment of methods of analysis.

The goal of this Special Issue is to include articles that shed light on a variety of scenarios that demonstrate environmental degradation and natural resource exploitation in both developed and developing economies and identify private and public solutions to such challenges. We solicit articles that include and analyze different forms of government interventions used in different parts of the world to improve environmental and natural resource management outcomes.

We welcome submissions that focus on areas related to environmental and natural resource management, including theoretical and empirical analyses, case studies, survey analyses, mixed methods research, field experiments, comparative analysis, and critical reviews of the existing literature.

Topics may include, but are not restricted to, renewable and nonrenewable energy markets, forestry, marine resource management, overfishing, habitat loss, common property resources, the inequality–environment nexus, the economics of ecosystem services, the conservation of endangered species, local and global externalities, urban environmental challenges, biodiversity loss, environment–human interactions, green goods markets, the environmental impact of the digital economy, policy impact analyses, and private–public partnership projects that focus on environmental and resource management outcomes.

Look forward to receiving your contributions.
