Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Resistance exercise should be included as a critical component of prescribed training programs for all individuals. Resistance exercise can provide an individual with unique adaptations that are beneficial for health, body composition, and performance. However, more research is needed to fully elucidate the specific adaptations that occur in response to different resistance exercise programs in a variety of populations. This Special Issue is intended for research studies focused on adding to the literature on how an individual adapts to resistance exercise over time. Original work and reviews related to the topics of resistance exercise, strength and conditioning, periodization, and training adaptations are welcome. Chronic, long-term resistance training studies examining changes in body composition, health status, and/or exercise and sport performance are preferred, but acute resistance exercise studies will be considered as well. Study populations can include any population including, but not limited to, youth, athletes, the general population, older adults, and clinical populations. Manuscripts should address the practical applications of the study findings in order to properly inform practitioners in the field. Furthermore, studies with significant, positive or negative, and nonsignificant results will receive equal levels of consideration.
