Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The research and utilization of membranes has a long history. To this day, the development and application of membranes are still full of new opportunities. Compared with traditional separation methods, membrane separation has the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, less investment, and less pollution. Recently, more high-quality and efficient novel functional separation membrane have continuously emerged, which has injected new vitality into the research and development and application of membrane separation. With the development of functional separation membrane materials and membrane processes, not only can membrane separation technology replace some separation operations, but can also be combined with many unit operations to achieve better results, such as membrane reactor, which combined separation process and reaction in a single unit, or achieve some special functions, such like stimulus response, molecular/ion recognition.

This Special Issue aims to collect contributions on the most recent advances in the field of novel functional separation membrane. Topics of interest are membranes with special function, such as smart gating membrane, stimulus responsive membrane, molecularly/ion imprinted membrane, photocatalytic membrane, catalytic membrane, antifouling membrane and new membrane production method, membrane reactor, and so on. Other topics of novel functional separation membrane are also welcome.
It is my pleasure to invite you to submit a manuscript for this Special Issue. I look forward to receiving papers about current development and application of novel functional separation membrane.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Separations is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
