24–27 September 2018 The Ninth International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN 2018)
The advent of terrestrial positioning systems, the internet of things and human sensor networks providing new navigation functionalities sets a novel paradigm for indoor positioning and navigation solutions. The environment, where navigation technology is expected to work, has extended to challenging indoor spaces and to the context of goods and personal mobility. Globally there is no overall and easy solution. Every year, IPIN gathers over 400 industrial and academic experts in informatics, electronics and surveying to address this challenge. In the footsteps of our Japanese colleagues, we welcome you in France to IPIN 2018 for its ninth edition to discuss in person scientific and industrial matters, experience geolocation competitions beyond the conference venue and enjoy the historical and cultural heritage of Nantes.
The MDPI journal Sensors will award the winner of the contest in the category of papers presented by students.
The PhD student whose paper has the highest rank after the peer reviewed process will receive the prize for an amount of 1000 €.

3–5 April 2019 Single-Molecule Sensors and NanoSystems International Conference – S3IC 2019
Sensor systems have emerged that exhibit extraordinary sensitivity for detecting physical, chemical, and biological entities at the micro/nanoscale. Particularly exciting is the detection and analysis of molecules on miniature devices that have many possible applications in health, environment, analysis, and security. A new class of label-free micro and nanosensors are starting to emerge that allow us to observe dynamic processes at the single molecule level directly, with unprecedented spatial- and temporal resolution and without significantly affecting the natural and functional movements of the molecules. Micro- and nanosensors by virtue of their small interaction length probe molecules over a dynamic range often inaccessible by other techniques. Their small size enables an exceedingly high sensitivity, and the application of quantum optical measurement techniques can allow us to approach or surpass classical limits of detection. Advances in optical and electrical measurement methodology, laser interferometry, quantum optics, micro/nanofluidics, control of molecules and reactions at the nanoscale, DNA origami/synthetic molecular machines, in-vivo and wearable sensing materials, they all contribute to the rapid progress of the field of Single Molecule Sensors and nanoSystems. It is this convergence of previously often disparate fields that is accelerating the advancements in micro and nano-sensing.

The event will took place at the Cyprus University of Technology facilities. 3–6 September 2019 GeoInformation for Disaster Management (GI4DM 2019)

The world has experienced several devastating disasters in this century, first an Earthquake of a very high magnitude and then Tsunami afterwards or heavy rain flows, followed by floods and landslides are common occurrences. These are conditions where even the most advanced EWS cannot make a significant difference. So, most of the potential to mitigate such a disaster in the future would have to be in the field of vulnerability reduction by adaptation, e.g. in urban planning and construction, based on risk and vulnerability maps.
Another question is the quality and coordination of disaster mapping activities to support response measures. Here we should coordinate all efforts globally as most of the disasters nowadays affect Trans boundaries. So the Geoinformation technologies will and better expressed should help in all facets of Disaster Management. An international effort in this direction is the Gi4DM series of Conferences, which was held for the first time in 2005 in Delft after the Indian Ocean Tsunami and repeated every year in almost all parts of the world. The upcoming conference in next September 2019 will demonstrate the last international advances in Geoinformation regarding the Disaster Management.

The International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference was initiated in 1985, biennially, aiming at exchange and dissemination of scientific and technological knowledges. It is currently an event sponsored by the Brazilian Microwave and Optoelectronic Society (SBMO) and the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S). For the first time since its creation IMOC will leave the Brazilian territory and will be held in Portugal. The organization will be in charge of the Instituto de Telecomunicações / Universidade de Aveiro / Instituto Superior Técnico and the Federal University of Espírito Santo.

The MindCare Community leverages the opportunities offered by the technological advancements to provide an improved diagnosis, a better support to both healthy subjects and patients, and also to extend the theoretical knowledge.
In addition to its timeliness, the event comprises a broad range of interests. The theme invites ideas on how to achieve more efficient use of resources based largely on the IoT-based machine-to-machine (M2M) interactions of millions of smart meters and sensors in the smart grid specific communication networks such as home area networks, building area networks, and neighborhood area networks. The smart grid also encompasses IoT technologies, which monitor transmission lines, manage substations, integrate renewable energy generation (e.g., solar or wind), and utilize hybrid vehicle batteries. Through these technologies, the authorities can smartly identify outage problems, and intelligently schedule the power generation and delivery to the customers. Furthermore, the smart grid should teach us a valuable lesson that security must be designed in from the start of any IoT deployment. Since there is an alarming lack of standards to address the protection of the secret keys and/or the life-cycle security of the embedded smart grid devices, intruders could use conventional attack techniques to breach the security just as in any other IoT deployment.

Market research show that there is a need for SHM which could handle structural & fatigue analysis and risk based inspection to address the structural in-tegrity monitoring of offshore structures. Currently, operators are using multiple softwareâ€™s to carry out integrity and inspection planning. Radical developments telecommunication and sensor technology are about to transform the way that asset management is conceived and carried out. Sensors and structural health monitoring system are becoming a normal part of buildings. Sensors can be permanently con-nected to a distributed management network so that owners, users, and in general, all those involved in the management process - con-nected via the Internet - can check conditions during construction and operation. Whereas today the structural engineer conceives the sin-gle building or bridge as a stand-alone project, in future it is likely that structures will be regarded as cells of a complex infrastructure net-work. Design specifications, real-time operation, and any decision on maintenance, upgrading and reconstruction of the single cell will re-flect the management policy of the whole system, properly accounting for concepts such as cost, risk and sustainability.

There is a growing interest in context-aware applications that intelligently support user tasks by acting autonomously on behalf of users. Among others, activity of the user is one important context. Behavior of context-aware applications depends not only on their internal state and user interactions but also on the context sensed during their execution. Some early models of context information already exist, however many research issues related to context information modeling are still not fully addressed. Existing context models vary in types of context information they can represent; e.g., either the user’s current situation or the physical environment. A more generic approach to context modeling is needed in order to capture various features of context information including a variety of types of context information, dependencies between context information, quality of context information and context histories. Tools for modeling and reasoning with the social context of groups of people are also needed. In addition, to ease software engineering problems, appropriate abstractions are necessary to support discovery and reuse of context information as well as scalable methods of context processing and management.
This workshop’s aim is to advance the state of the art in context modeling and reasoning and discuss fundamental issues in context processing and management. The goal is to identify concepts, theories and methods applicable to context modeling and context reasoning as well as system-oriented issues related to the design and implementation of context-aware systems.

The 2018 European Conference on Integrated Optics (ECIO 2018, www.ecio-2018.org) will celebrate its 20th anniversary in Valencia from the 30th May to the 1st June 2018. The conference focuses on leading edge research on integrated optics, optoelectronics and nano-photonics and gathers experts from academia and industry to show their latest technical results, and showcase their products and services. The application scope is broad and it ranges from tele/datacom communications, optical interconnects, and (bio) optical sensing applications to more disruptive areas as quantum computing and mid-IR photonics. In the 2017 edition, which took place in Eindhoven, the conference featured more than two hundred attendees.

The 2018 International Conference on Nanoscience + Technology (ICN+T) will provide an international forum for discussion of the latest developments in nanoscale science and technology and relevant instrumentation and methodologies.
The ICN+T represents the convergence of the former International Conference on Scanning Tunneling Microscopy/Spectroscopy and Related Techniques (STM) and Nano, which were first combined in Basel, Switzerland in 2006 (list of the former meeting sites). Industrial Internet of Things
The Industry 4.0 is an emerging concept which aims at transforming the plants and the fabrication process. The Internet of Things (IoT) technologies will play a major role in this evolution. Cybersecurity for the Internet of Things

We are proud to organize the 32nd Edition of this Conference in Graz, Austria´s second largest city with the beautiful historic old town being a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage!
The EUROSENSORS conference was held for the very first time 1987 in Cambridge, UK, and is Europe’s largest Conference in the field of Sensors, Actuators, Micro- & Nanosystems, as well as related materials and fabrication technologies. EUROSENSORS is a most important forum for experienced scientists, engineers and students from academia, research institutes and companies. We are expecting 500 – 600 participants from all over the world to present and discuss their latest R&D results.
The conference venue will be the University of Graz (founded in 1585), which is one of the largest universities in Austria with about 32,500 students. The 9th Symposium on “Green Networking and Computing” (SGNC 2018) will be held in the frame of the 26th International Conference on Software, Telecommunications, and Computer Networks (SoftCOM 2018). The topic of “green networking and computing” is attracting growing attention for economic, energetic, and environmental reasons. The rapidly increasing amount of power consumed by ICT, as well as the energy bills of service providers, contributes to the economic reasons. According to a number of studies, ICT alone is responsible for between 2 and 10% of world power consumption, due to the ever-increasing diffusion of electronic devices. Communication networks, including the Internet and wireless networks, represent a non-negligible part of the energy consumption of ICT. In addition, the carbon footprint of ICT devices due to energy consumption and the activities related to their entire lifecycle contributes to global warming.
In the very last years, energy-saving techniques are being considered for communication networks with new generation devices and network management approaches exploiting algorithms and protocols for adapting the network to the varying traffic load. The Symposium on “Green Networking and Computing” aims to serve as a platform for researchers and visionaries from academia, research labs, and industry from all over the world. The 5G vision targets a digital and connected landscape, where not only people but devices will be connected to what is referred to as the Internet of Everything (IoE). Real life objects will be smart in nature, and possibly virtual, allowing everyday activities to be performed remotely at the touch of a button in seamless manner. In this context, new technologies are required such as connectivity that can transport information effectively according to the application data. However, for real life objects to come a life, these will be animated through cyber physical technology, that include sensors, actuators and embedded software. Where embedded systems was once constrained to consumer devices, now it comes to the forefront playing a pivotal role in the 5G paradigm, allowing devices to become objects, and objects to form part of an integrated system, where different devices employing diverse data formats and operating systems are no longer barriers.
The scope of this conference will target one of the key drivers for 5G, the IoE world that includes technology advances in cyber physical systems and security. The conference is also interested in novel works applying 5G concepts to space and underwater communications. Physiological data in its different dimensions, either bioelectrical, biomechanical, biochemical or biophysical, and collected through specialized biomedical devices, video and image capture or other sources, is opening new boundaries in the field of human-computer interaction into what can be defined as Physiological Computing. PhyCS is the annual meeting of the physiological interaction and computing community, and serves as the main international forum for engineers, computer scientists and health professionals, interested in outstanding research and development that bridges the gap between physiological data handling and human-computer interaction. PhyCS brings together people interested in creating novel interaction devices, adaptable interfaces, algorithms and tools, through the study, planning, and design of interfaces between people and computers that are supported by multimodal biosignals. We seek contributions that relate synergetic disciplines such as biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, affective computing, accessibility, usability, computer graphics, arts, etc. Researchers attending PhyCS seek to extend the state-of-the-art by harnessing the power of physiological data to refine the symbiosis between humans and computers in such way that the resulting interactive experiences lead to richer and improved outcomes. This may involve the design of new wearable devices that make physiological data acquisition more pervasive, the design of user interfaces capable of recognizing and adapting to changes in the physiological state of the user, and / or the creation of algorithms to enable robust and seamless control of computational resources using physiological data sources as input. We call for original submissions that describe novel technologies and applications in this field, and greatly encourage authors to complement their oral and poster communications with demonstrations showing novel physiological computing and interaction concepts or systems.

6–8 October 2010 16th International Workshop on Thermal investigations of ICs and Systems
THERMINIC Workshops are a series of events to discuss the essential thermal questions of microelectronic microstructures and electronic parts in general. These questions are becoming more and more crucial with the increasing element density of circuits packaged together and with the move to nanotechnology. These trends are calling for thermal simulation, monitoring and cooling. Thermal management is expected to become an increasingly dominating factor of a system’s cost. The growing power dissipated in a package, the mobile parts of microsystems raise new thermal problems to be solved in the near future necessitating the regular discussion of the experts in these fields. Finally, there is an increasing need for accurate assessment of the boundary conditions used in the analysis of electronic parts, which requires a concurrent solution of the thermal behaviour of the whole system. This year THERMINIC will address in addition to the “traditional” thermal management problems, also stress and thermal-stress-related-reliability issues, both in micro- and opto-electronics fields. These issues, including various nanotechnology applications, are of significant importance and of high interest to the engineering community engaged in the field of thermal phenomena in “high-tech” systems.

Organic electronic and photonic materials possess several characteristics making them unique in translating biological signals into electronic and photonic equivalences, and vice-versa. Those characteristics relate to mechanical flexibility, biochemical functionality, stability at physiological conditions, and also biocompatibility. During the last two decades, organic polymers and molecules have been extensively utilized as the active material in devices and probes for applications in flexible electronics, sensors, etc. The same components are now explored as the signal transduction interface to enable communication across the biology-technology gap.
This symposium provides a forum to report and discuss recent progress in using organic electronics and photonics in biological, medical, and diagnostic applications. The theme will include exploring the technology in vitro, in vivo, and in applications such as for lab-on-a-chip, diagnostics, drug screening, detection, sensing, microfluidics, and monitoring.

Sensors and especially MEMS technology are embedding more and more functions while improving performance and decreasing size. The next generation of sensors now add dedicated computing within the sensors. The “Intelligent Sensor Hub” concept is the merging of a sensor with a micro-controller and a dedicated architecture to manage, pre-process and aggregate external sensor data. An illustration of this new sensor generation is the MMA9550L motion sensing platform from Freescale, which houses a 14- bit 3-axis accelerometer together with a 32-bit CPU, I2C, SPI and other GPIOs. The low-power and small size enable applications in mobile phones, portables devices and also medical and industrial applications.

EUROSENSORS is a series of highly successful conferences that began in Cambridge in 1987 and that has been the only European forum to cover the entire field of Sensors, Actuators, Microsystems and Nanosystems. It is the leading European conference devoted to the advancement of high technologies in the aforementioned fields, providing an excellent opportunity to bring together scientists and engineers from academia, research centers, national research institutes and companies to present and discuss the latest results in these fields.
EUROSENSORS attracts more than 500 participants every year. New developments and emerging technologies ranging from new sensing materials and sensor fabrication processes up to wireless sensor network through nanotechnology, nanofabrication processes, nanoengineered sensors and actuators, micro power generation, micro fluidic, bio analytical systems, etc., are particularly welcome.

The 8th EAI conference on Sensor Systems and Software is a single track forum for research on system development and software support for embedded sensing, broadly defined. This year the conference will be organized in co-location with SoftCOM conference.
