Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Peptides have emerged as a vital class of biomolecules with diverse applications, spanning pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, functional foods, and material science. Their unique structural properties and bioactivities enable them to serve as therapeutic agents, enzyme inhibitors, biomaterials, and functional ingredients in food and nutrition. With ongoing advancements in peptide discovery, synthesis, engineering, characterization, and application, the field continues to evolve, providing innovative solutions to pressing scientific, industrial, and global challenges.

This Special Issue on “Peptides: Advances and Innovations from Discovery to Application” invites high-quality research and review articles on the latest advancements in peptide science, including discovery, structural modification, synthesis, functional characterization, and applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Screening and characterization of bioactive peptide and their applications;
  2. Peptides and proteins for drug delivery;
  3. Peptide-based nanomaterials and their applications;
  4. Development of functional foods and nutraceuticals containing bioactive peptides;
  5. Techniques for the extraction, purification, and production of bioactive peptides;
  6. Peptide-based biosensors;
  7. Peptide synthesis and modifications;
  8. Peptide drugs: design and applications.

We welcome contributions from researchers in peptide chemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, material sciences and related disciplines that advance this field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
