The main objective of the Congress will be the presentation of the latest advances in the field of discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of neglected diseases and other diseases that are relevant for public health in Argentina and worldwide. The Congress will take place in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry - University of Buenos Aires, together with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the foundation of the Institute of Drug Chemistry and Metabolism (IQUIMEFA) (UBA-CONICET).
National and foreign visitors will participate in the Congress, including health care professionals as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students. The scientific programme will include topics related to parasitic, viral and bacterial diseases with high impact on public health,particularly, in developing countries. Chagas’ disease, African trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis, dengue and mycetoma, among others will be discussed as well as vector-borne diseases, such as malaria, zika, chikungunya and Argentine haemorrhagic fever.
