24–28 June 2019 Halophiles 2019

Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Since the first meeting in 1978 (Rehovot, Israel), scientists around the world have regularly come together to share their interest in physiology, biodiversity, ecology or the genetics of salt-loving organisms or ‘halophiles’. Following this fourty year-tradition, on behalf of the Scientific Advisory Board and Organizing Committee, we invite you to the 12th Conference on Halophilic Microorganisms “Halophiles 2019” (web site: http://www.halophiles.eu ; e-mail:  [email protected] ) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from June 24 to 28, 2019. The conference location, Cluj-Napoca, is one of the largest Romanian cities, with a long-established and vibrant academic life. Cluj-Napoca is the historical capital of the Transylvania province where the ancient halite deposits have been mined for millennia resulting in many salt mines and hypersaline lakes nearby.

The oral sessions intended for this meeting will cover topics on Taxonomy, Biodiversity, Biophysics, Ecology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Genomics, and Biotechnology. Poster presentations will also be hosted.

Additionally, on June 26, there will be Joint meeting of the ICSP Subcommittees on ‘Taxonomy of Halobacteria’ and ‘Taxonomy of Halomonadaceae’.

We will warmly invite you to join us in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in June 2019, and look forward to welcoming you at the meeting.

23–25 September 2019 7th EUROBIOTECH Congress

Krakow, Poland

With great pleasure we are announcing that the 7th edition of the European Congress of Life Sciences Eurobiotech will be held in Krakow, Poland, from 23 to 25 September 2019. We look forward to welcoming you in Kraków - in a city of rich history, culture and science. Every year we listen closely to opinions of the participants and take them into account during preparation for the next edition of Congress. It is our responsibility to make sure that we will prepare the Congress which will meet the most demanding requirements.
AGROBIOTECHNOLOGY and PERSONALISED MEDICINE will be the leading motives of the 7th Eurobiotech. Since biotechnology is controversial for many people in our society we shall try to answer some critical questions: Who needs modern biotech and why? Will it be possible to perform modern agriculture as well as personalised medicine without it? Do we have any chance to avoid innovative bio-technologies in order to guarantee food, feed, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and bio-materials for 10 billion people in the perspective of the year 2050?! Is there any other way? Taking into account public perception as market value factor how to answer on the basic question: Who should make crucial decisions - all society or an elite group of experts?
We will do our best to find the answers to these and many more questions using solid bioscience: bioinformatics, genomics, synthetic biology, microbiology but also newest molecular techniques such as sequencing, new breeding techniques [NBT] and plant’s diagnostic.
We look forward to welcoming you in September 2019 in Krakow!

5–8 March 2017 Synthetic Biology for Natural Products Conference

Cancun, Mexico

Genome sequencing has revealed an enormous biosynthetic capacity for microbial natural products, only a small fraction of which are represented in fermentation-based screens. Synthetic biology tools are being developed to translate the encoded diversity of microbial biosynthetic pathways into novel compounds and natural products. The Synthetic Biology for Natural Products conference will blend these disciplines with the goal of generating new platforms, tools and technologies to capture, manipulate and engineer natural product genes and pathways. Converting this vast untapped (meta)genomic diversity into novel chemical leads for biomedical and agricultural applications will require breakthroughs in design, scale and biologics that currently limit the field.

Key Sessions Include:

- (Meta)Genomics-Enabled Natural Product Discovery

- New Tools for Capturing, Manipulating and Activating SM Pathways

- Advances in Heterologous Expression & Screening Technologies

- Designing Genes and Circuits for Novel Products and Yield Improvement

The C1-GRC will be paired with a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) that will take place immediately before the GRC at the same site. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows attending the C1-GRC are encouraged to participate in the C1-GRS as well. The GRS provides a unique platform for young scientists to showcase their own research and interact with key established and early-career scientists in the field. The 2016 C1-GRS will feature two keynote lectures by well-known senior and junior scientists of the "C1" community, and talks by GRS participants selected from submitted abstracts. 21–23 June 2016 The International Scientific Conference on Probiotics and Prebiotics IPC2016

Budapest Marriot Hotel, Hungary

10 reasons to attend the International Scientific Conference on Probiotics and Prebiotics - IPC2016

Probiotics are nonpathogenic live microorganism that can provide a diverse health benefits on the host. Prebiotics is a non-digestible fiber compounds that induce the growth or activity of microorganisms. Taking probiotics plus prebiotics could bring diverse types of health benefits. Probiotics are consumed in diverse ways including dairy product, food supplements and functional foods with specific health claims. Recently, many reports suggest that certain probiotic strains or multi strain mixture have potent immunomodulatory activity in diverse disorders including allergic asthma, atopic dermatitis and rheumatoid arthritis. However some of the probiotic strains have an adverse effect on people with underlying health problems or immuno-compromised individuals. In addition, however, efficacy of probiotic administration is quite different depending on the type of strains and the amounts of doses and underlying mechanism of action is still unclear. By attending the International Scientific Conference on Probiotics and Prebiotics - IPC2016, you will have a chance to expand your ideas on recent advances made in the science of probiotics, highlighting their current and future roles in maintaining health and preventing diseases. The next IPC will be held during 21st - 23rd June 2016 in Budapest, Hungary.

26–28 January 2016 Viruses 2016 - At the Forefront of Virus–Host Interactions

Pharmacenter, Basel, Switzerland

An international scientific conference sponsored by the journal Viruses under the patronage of the University of Basel.

10–12 June 2015 The Human Microbiome

Heidelberg, Germany

Human microbiota - the collection of microbes living in and on our body - have a significant impact on human health and well-being. They have been associated with numerous diseases, yet we have barely understood their role in the context of life-style and genetics. Various initiatives are underway around the world to survey the human microbiota at several body sites, characterise them, understand their interactions with the human hosts, elucidate their role in diseases, and design possible therapeutic or dietary interventions.

This conference will provide plentiful opportunities for researchers to learn about and to connect to important developments in this field.
