Dear Colleagues,
Offshore structural integrity is essential for sustainable marine resource development, especially as operations advance into more challenging ocean environments. These environments feature greater depths and harsher conditions that impose significant demands on offshore installations. Structures must withstand complex marine loads including extreme waves, strong currents, and typhoon events throughout their operational lifespan. They also encounter unique degradation mechanisms such as seawater corrosion, marine biofouling, and complex hydrodynamic interactions.
Given these challenges, advancing the scientific understanding of risk and reliability has become imperative for ensuring the safety and durability of offshore structures. This Special Issue is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge research in this critical field, with particular focus on methodologies and applications that address the unique demands of the marine environment.
The scope includes, but is not limited to, probabilistic modeling of marine environmental loads, AI-enhanced structural health monitoring, risk-based design methodologies, fatigue and fracture analysis under combined environmental loads, ultimate strength assessment, and lifecycle performance evaluation. We welcome original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and case studies that present innovative methodologies and insights through theoretical developments, numerical simulations, or experimental validation.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
