Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Urogynecology is a rapidly developing subspecialty focused on the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor disorders, and should continue to be a focus for clinicians as these conditions affect a substantial proportion of women across different stages of life.
Clinical practice consistently demonstrates that disorders such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and fecal incontinence significantly impair patients’ quality of life. Despite their prevalence, these conditions often remain underdiagnosed or undertreated, a challenge frequently highlighted by clinicians and researchers and largely related to social stigma, the delayed reporting of symptoms, and the complexity of diagnostic pathways.
Accumulating clinical observations and the growing experience of specialized research teams indicate that recent advances in diagnostic imaging, the refinement of surgical techniques, and the expansion of minimally invasive procedures have substantially transformed the therapeutic approach to pelvic floor disorders. At the same time, improved understanding of the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms has enabled more precise and individualized treatment strategies. Increasingly, multidisciplinary collaboration and personalized medicine are central to modern urogynecological care, enabling clinicians to tailor management to each patient's specific needs and expectations.
This Special Issue of JCM aims to highlight key clinical observations, current challenges, and recent scientific developments in urogynecology. Particular emphasis will be placed on studies that reflect real-world clinical experience, the outcomes reported by specialized centers, and the implementation of emerging technologies that support the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction.
We welcome submissions of original research articles, narrative reviews addressing the diagnosis, management, and long-term outcomes of pelvic floor disorders, including both innovative surgical techniques and conservative treatment strategies. Contributions focusing on patient-centered care, and the integration of digital tools into clinical practice are also strongly encouraged.
This Special Issue draws on contributions from experienced clinicians and researchers to not only summarize current knowledge but also stimulate discussion of future directions and priorities in contemporary urogynecology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
