Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Traditionally, healthcare innovations have proved costly and time consuming. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has radically accelerated the development of healthcare innovations around the world, with multiple disciplines working towards the same goal: saving lives. As the world emerges from the pandemic, a new status quo has been established for the pace of healthcare innovations and users’ and providers’ willingness to adopt them.

Digital healthcare has been heavily scrutinized, and tools such as telehealth and remote monitoring have gone from “nice to have” to essential. Innovations in at-home diagnostic and therapeutic equipment are enhancing providers’ ability to provide remote virtual care. Patients are also realizing they have more virtual and digital options for healthcare services. Global health systems that have invested in telehealth infrastructure will continue to expand its capabilities, with digital health at the forefront of the healthcare transformation.

In this Special Issue, we consider the innovations in digital healthcare and their impacts on global health, health economics, mental health, and public health. Relevant research may include digital health innovations in health monitoring, disease prevention, remote therapy, and public health policy. Original articles demonstrating the application of these methods in vulnerable or priority communities are of particular interest. Submissions of high-interest review articles are also encouraged
