Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past few decades, concerted global public health, clinical, academic, administrative, and socioeconomic efforts have significantly reduced the number of women dying from complications of pregnancy and childbirth before and after pregnancy. However, in low-resource settings, hundreds of people still die every day from childbirth and pregnancy complications, most of which are preventable. Women in low- and middle-income countries are still at more risk from pregnancy-related causes than women in developed countries.

This Special Issue welcomes original articles examining maternal-related and neonatal outcomes to assess and contribute to global collaborative efforts to reduce pregnancy-related risks, especially those that study childbirth-related and postpartum surgical complications in different age groups of pregnant women, the management of postpartum hemorrhage, and the prevention of neonatal encephalopathy and preeclampsia. Access to abortion and contraceptive means to prevent abortion are esssential, and papers on this topic could be interesting.
