Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The literature focusing on voluntary contributions to public goods has mainly focused on settings in which donors can contribute to one project only. Recent studies have extended the framework to make it more realistic by allowing donors to contribute to several alternatives.

Depending on the production function of the public good, the multiplicity of public goods augments a coordination problem, whereby donors must choose to which public good to contribute to in order to match others’ choices.

This Special Issue welcomes theoretical and experimental (conducted in the lab, in the field, or online) studies as well as survey articles and meta-analyses that focus on settings with multiple public goods and analyze research questions that are related to mechanism design, the role of intermediary agents in coordinating contributions, the impact of ad-hoc donation strategies to enhance contribution, the role of the production function of public goods, and the effect on successful contributions of introducing asymmetries across alternative options.
