Special Issue "Data Management in the Artificial Intelligence Era"
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 1 November 2021.
Interests: databases; big data; machine learning; information retrieval; data mining; scientometrics; bioinformatics
Data management and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are two strongly related computer science fields. On the one hand, various modern Big Data management approaches paved the way for more efficient and effective training of machine learning approaches. On the other hand, advanced AI techniques may be useful when applied to data management workflows, for instance facilitating and optimising their configuration. Generally speaking, the recent developments in the one field may be extremely useful for the researchers in the other one.
In this context, this Special Issue aims to put the spotlight on works that lie in the intersection of data management and AI, operating as a forum of interaction and collaboration between the researchers in both fields. In particular, we call for original research contributions in the following indicative topics, without excluding other relevant subjects:
- Data management techniques to accelerate/improve machine learning processes
- Incorporating AI capabilities in databases
- Knowledge representation and semantic data management
- Graph databases and knowledge graphs
- Cloud Automation and machine learning
- Natural Language Processing
- Machine learning and deep learning
- Trustful and explainable AI
- AI and Data security and privacy
- Bias in AI approaches
- Big data processing and AI in the context of important application domains

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
