Application of Advanced Energy Materials in Building Heat Transfer System

Dear Colleagues,

Today, it is well known that the reduction of energy consumption is the key to reducing the carbon emitting into the atmosphere. However, the growth of the built environment and the increase in life quality standard are leading to an increase energy demand. Therefore, energy policies require increasingly efficient solutions to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and at the same time guarantee high thermal comfort. The performance of HVAC systems (either active or passive) integrated into buildings is thus fundamental to achieving this goal.

The development and the application of new materials able to support the development of efficient energy systems can lead to reducing both the energy demand and the energy consumption of buildings.

Research and reviews articles are therefore invited to be submitted to this Special Issue, so as to contribute to this research field with studies related to:

• The development and application of advanced materials integrated into active HVAC systems (i.e., heat transfer fluids);
• The development and application of advanced materials integrated into active HVAC components (i.e., working fluids, coatings, insulation);
• The development and application of advanced materials for passive HVAC and energy demand reduction (i.e., building envelope, construction materials);
• The development and application of advanced materials for energy storage systems (both electrical and thermal);
• Life cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis, thermodynamic and experimental studies of energy systems for building applications (both passive and active) including new advanced materials.
