Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is indubitable that the world’s global energy system is undergoing a significant transformation driven by the increasing availability of low-cost renewable energy technologies and the deployment of distributed energy resources. Among the different renewable energy sources, solar energy is widely recognized as one of the most attractive to support this transition toward a decarbonized society. The use of low and medium temperature solar technologies makes the decentralized power production of combined heating and power (CHP) an alternative to conventional energy conversion systems. Therefore, the present Special Issue of “Solar Collectors and Photovoltaics as Combined Heat and Power Systems” is proposed with the aim of disseminating the knowledge around these technologies, their environmental impact and the best practice for their uptake.

This Special Issue mainly covers original research and studies related to the above-mentioned topics, including, but not limited to, solar energy conversion and applications, distributed energy systems, building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPV/T), solar-assisted heat pumps, etc. Papers dealing with the above topics using one or more of the following methodologies are encouraged: modeling, experimental, optimization, and planning, with adequate verification of the findings. Moreover, papers performing a comparison between solar and other CHP technologies are welcome. Papers selected for this Special Issue are subjected to a rigorous peer review procedure with the aim of rapid and wide dissemination of research results, developments and applications.

I am writing to invite you to submit your original work to this Special Issue. I am looking forward to receiving your outstanding research.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
