Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, accounting for a substantial clinical, social, and economic burden. Despite significant advances in pharmacological and interventional therapies, the prevention and management of CVDs continue to rely heavily on lifestyle modification, with nutrition representing one of the most powerful and cost-effective interventions.

Growing evidence highlights the critical role of dietary factors in the development, progression, and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases. Beyond traditional risk factors, contemporary research increasingly focuses on dietary patterns, personalized nutrition, nutrigenomics, gut microbiota interactions, cardiometabolic health, and the implementation of evidence-based nutritional strategies in clinical practice. The transition from nutrient-centered approaches toward precision nutrition offers new opportunities for improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing residual risk.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current advances in nutritional science related to cardiovascular prevention and treatment. We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical studies exploring the role of nutrition across the continuum of cardiovascular health.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Dietary patterns and cardiovascular outcomes (Mediterranean, DASH, plant-based, low-carbohydrate, and other dietary models);
  • Precision nutrition and personalized dietary interventions;
  • Nutrigenomics, nutrigenetics, and epigenetic mechanisms in cardiovascular disease;
  • Gut microbiota, metabolomics, and cardiometabolic health;
  • Obesity, body composition, and cardiovascular risk;
  • Malnutrition and nutritional risk assessment in cardiovascular populations;
  • Nutrition in heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and atrial fibrillation;
  • Dietary strategies for dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome management;
  • Digital health, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to nutritional monitoring;
  • Implementation of nutritional interventions in clinical and public health settings;
  • Lifestyle medicine and integrated cardiovascular prevention strategies.

We look forward to receiving your contributions and advancing the understanding of how nutrition can improve cardiovascular health and patient outcomes across diverse populations.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Dietetics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
