Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Innovative materials play a significant role in construction, industries, defense, the medical field, and agricultures. The current challenges in innovative materials include improving manufacturing performance, incorporating new functionalities, and reducing cost for global competitiveness. The ICEIM 2019 conference provides a platform to disseminate, to all branches of engineering and innovative materials, the most recent and relevant sustainable innovations, theories, and practices.

The ICEIM 2019 conference will focus on four main themes that are currently hot areas in the field of engineering and innovative materials: 1. Materials science and engineering; 2. materials properties, measuring methods, and applications; 3. methodology of research and analysis and modeling; 4. materials manufacturing and processing.

Within these four main themes, several topics will be discussed during the conference, including but not limited to:

  • Processes for coating deposition and modification;
  • Characterization techniques in surface coating;
  • Functional, protective, and decorative coatings;
  • Nanomaterials for coatings at high temperature;
  •  Materials for packaging;
  • Applied surface science;
  • Adsorption, adhesion, functionalization;
  • Fundamental and functional properties of surface and interfaces;
  • Theoretical analysis and computational modeling of surfaces and interfaces;
  • High surface area systems: Colloids, nanoparticles, large interfaces.

Coatings will publish a selection of papers related to the meeting in the form of regular articles as well as critical reviews and perspectives. Your contribution is very welcome!

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
