Biology Webinar | Understanding the Genomic Mechanisms of Oncology, 17 July 2024

We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming webinar titled Understanding the Genomic Mechanisms of Oncology, organized by the journal’s Special Issue. As the journal’s Guest Editors and chairs of this event, we are excited to bring together leading experts in the field to share their pioneering research and insights.

In this webinar, we will delve into the latest advancements in oncology genomics, focusing on how these innovations are revolutionizing cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of the cellular and molecular processes that drive tumorigenesis and explore the potential of personalized medicine.

Featured Lectures:

  • “Implication of Nanopore Sequencing in Oncological Care”—Dr. Aviad Zick, a senior medical oncologist at the Hebrew University–Hadassah Medical Center and the head of its Cancer Genetics Laboratory, will discuss how nanopore sequencing technology is being applied to unravel the molecular complexities of sarcoma, with the potential to lead to novel and precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies;
  • “Patient-derived Tumor Organoids to Advance Personalized Medicine”—Dr. Myriam Grunewald, the Head and Scientific Director of the Hadassah Organoid Center, will share her insights on the use of patient-derived tumor organoids and will explore how these models can be utilized to tailor personalized treatments and predict therapeutic responses;
  • “Unlocking Insights from Patient-Derived Data: Introducing GENI for Simplified Cancer Genomic Analysis”—Dr. Yoav Shaul, a member of the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, will discuss the role of metabolic processes in driving cancer cell aggressiveness. His presentation will focus on identifying metabolic enzymes involved in epithelial–mesenchymal plasticity (EMP) and will demonstrate how the GENI platform can be used to analyze cancer patient data, providing biological interpretations and insights into the mechanisms of action of the EMP program of cancer patient-associated data.

This webinar promises to be a great opportunity for researchers, clinicians, and students to engage with cutting-edge research and discuss the future directions of oncology genomics. Your participation and insights will contribute to the collective effort to advance our understanding and treatment of cancer.
