Mobility in Motion: Cognitive Applications for a Sustainable Future
This special issue belongs to the section “Transportation and Future Mobility“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In an era where the challenges of urbanization and climate change are increasingly pressing, the need for innovative solutions in mobility has never been more critical. In connection with the 5th Cognitive Mobility Conference (to be held in Budapest, Hungary, from 8 to 9 October, 2026), this Special Issue invites contributions that explore the intersection of mobility, cognitive applications, and sustainability. We seek to highlight research that examines how artificial intelligence, human decision-making, and socio-technical systems interact to create sustainable mobility solutions.
Topics of Interest
We welcome submissions from conference participants and external authors, including original research articles, reviews, and case studies related to, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Cognitive Mobility Frameworks: Investigating models that integrate cognitive processes into mobility systems.
- AI and Decision-Making: Exploring the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing mobility solutions and user experiences.
- Sustainable Transportation: Analyzing strategies for reducing the environmental impact of transportation systems.
- Smart Urban Mobility: Examining the implementation of smart technologies in urban planning and mobility management.
- User-Centric Approaches: Focusing on how cognitive insights can improve user engagement and satisfaction in mobility services.
All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest quality of published research.
Join us in advancing the dialogue on how cognitive applications can transform mobility for a sustainable future. We look forward to your contributions!

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
