Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

While the scientific community is well-aware of the imminent (and perhaps long-lasting) threats to environmental and food security caused by human actions and climate change, the general public might not perceive it that way. Moreover, advances in technology and modelling approaches that could help with business adaptation (particularly related to agricultural production and services) are not effectively communicated to those that could actually use it to cope with environmental changes. Hence, this Special Issues aims to curate case studies that make use of geospatial technologies and novel modelling approaches to address pressing issues in the agriculture sector, including soil quality assessment, remediation and monitoring, and crop and water efficiency. Each case study should clearly identify the problem and business application, present the method and propose a solution implementation that could be benchmarked to potential users. Relevant geospatial technologies include the use of high resolution imagery and automated systems to collect spatial-temporal datasets. There is a suite of modelling approaches, from statistical to machine learning, which are appropriate to process and analyse soil/environmental data. Often, these are too complex to be understood by the general public, so we welcome applications that can be programmed and delivered as a web/mobile application, with a friendly user interface ready to be shared and used by the community.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
