IoT in Healthcare and Digital Health: IoT Solutions for Real-Time Health Monitoring

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming healthcare, opening unique opportunities for real-time, continuous, and patient-centered health monitoring. By connecting wearable and implantable sensors, mobile devices, and intelligent platforms, IoT solutions are driving a paradigm shift in digital health, from disease prevention and early detection to personalized treatment and long-term care.

This Special Issue, titled “IoT in Healthcare and Digital Health: IoT Solutions for Real-Time Health Monitoring”, aims to collate cutting-edge research and innovative applications of IoT technologies that are shaping the future of medicine. We welcome contributions addressing the design, deployment, and validation of IoT-based systems, including novel sensing devices, secure and efficient data transmission, edge–cloud architectures, and AI-driven analytics for clinical decision support.

Beyond technical innovations, we encourage submissions that explore clinical validation, usability, ethical considerations, and regulatory frameworks, which are crucial to ensure trust, safety, and effective translation into healthcare practice. By combining technical excellence with clinical and societal perspectives, this Special Issue will highlight not only emerging technologies but also their real-world impact.

By collating contributions from diverse fields, this Special Issue will highlight how IoT technologies are driving healthcare toward more connected, efficient, and patient-focused solutions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. IoT is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
