Martina Padmanabhan

Martina Padmanabhan holds the Chair in “Comparative Development and Cultural Studies with a focus on Southeast Asia” at the University of Passau, Germany. Trained as a rural sociologist and agricultural engineer, she conducts comparative empirical research on gender studies, social ecology, sustainability and institutions in Germany, India, Indonesia, Ethiopia and Ghana. She is interested in feminist political ecology and heads the interdisciplinary and international English-taught MA in Development Studies at the University of Passau.
