Climate Uncertainty Index for Pakistan and Its Nexus with Carbon Emissions and Growth
Climate change is a worldwide concern, with numerous studies on its impact on different economies. A recently developed climate policy uncertainty index for the United States inspires practitioners across the globe to adapt or develop similar indices for other countries. At present, Pakistan lacks such an index. The present study takes the lead and develops a climate uncertainty index (CUI) for Pakistan by quantifying public concerns and uncertainties about climate issues in Pakistan using Google Trends data. In addition, this study examines the relationship between current global issues, such as carbon dioxide emissions, global warming, and the degradation of the environment, as well as web searches related to climate and climate uncertainty.
