Martin Mai is a transplant nephrologist at the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research (MFMER). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1979 and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1983. His research interests include kidney and pancreas transplantation, immunosuppressive drug and protocol development, hepatorenal syndrome, the renal effects of immunosuppressive therapy, and the management of renal disorders in liver transplant patients. He has received several honors, including being selected for inclusion in The Best Doctors in America in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017, as well as the Distinguished Clinician Award from Mayo
Clinic in Florida in 2024. He is also board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
