Author Biographies

Mohamed Hamdy Sharaf is a Teaching Assistant at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt, in the Construction and Building Department, specializing in geotechnical engineering. I teach soil mechanics, geology, foundation design, and building materials. I hold a Master of Science degree in soil improvement, and I am currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Oviedo in soil stabilization of expansive soils.
Elias Afif Khouri is a professor in the Department of Organisms and Systems Biology at the University of Oviedo in Asturias, Spain, and is affiliated with the Institute of Natural Resources and Territorial Planning (INDUROT). He teaches Soil Science, Hydraulics and Hydrology in the Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry and Sustainable Natural Resources Management at the Polytechnic School of Mieres. His main research interests focus on soil science, with particular attention to soil fertility, remediation techniques for heavy metals in contaminated soils, and the stabilization of expansive soils.
