Author Biographies

Andrea, an Italian hydraulic engineer (Politecnico di Milano, I), is specialized in system analysis applied to water resources management and holds a PhD in fluvial geomorphology from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (Spain). He is co-founder and first Technical Director of the Italian Centre for River Restoration (CIRF) and, at present, director of Fundación CREACUA (Colombia). He advises governmental institutions, universities, research centers, and international NGOs through applied research projects featuring complex environmental issues, decision making, sustainable development, interest conflicts, and particularly river management and restoration. He is the author of several papers and books.
Giacomo is an Italian researcher in fluvial geomorphology. He holds a PhD from the University of Padua, where he focused on natural disturbances in mountain river basins and river dynamics. He has conducted research in Italy and abroad, including field and academic collaborations in Switzerland, Chile, and the United Kingdom. His work mainly concerns fluvial processes, sediment dynamics, and river ecosystem response to disturbances. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Lincoln (UK), working on river resilience and restoration within international research projects.
