Edna Cabecinha is an Assistant Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), in the Department of Biology and Environment. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from UTAD, an MSc in Environmental Technology from the University of Minho (School of Engineering), and a BSc in Biophysical Engineering from the University of Évora. She is a researcher at the Centre for Research in Agro-Environmental and Biological Technologies (CITAB) and currently coordinates the thematic area “Natural Resources, Biodiversity & Climate Challenges”, while also serving as Vice-Coordinator of the “Water Resources, Soil Health & Food” research area at the Inov4Agro Associated Laboratory. Her academic leadership has included such roles as Director of the MSc in Environmental Engineering and the BSc in Environmental Sciences at UTAD, and she is presently the Director of the International Doctoral Programme Do*Mar and Vice-Director of the UTAD Doctoral College. Internationally, she leads the Nature-based Solutions Thematic Group of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management and contributes to organisations such as the Ecosystem Services Partnership and the International Council for Exploration of the Sea. Her research focuses on ecosystem-based management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and nature-based solutions.
