Anastasia Yastrebova-Castillo received her D.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Communication Engineering from the University of Oulu in 2024. She is now a Senior Scientist at the Technical Research Centre of Finland, VTT Ltd. Her research interests include terrestrial/non-terrestrial networks (TN/NTN), satellite communications, and satellite constellation design for massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC), Internet of Things (IoT), and Earth Observation (EO) purposes.
Sami Tocklin received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from LUT University, Finland, in 2024. He is currently pursuing the M.Sc. degree in Microwave Engineering at Aalto University, Finland. He previously gained two years of industry experience at Nokia Drone Networks through traineeships focused on electronics engineering. His background combines practical multidisciplinary engineering experience with interests in antenna design, microwave circuit design, satellite and non-terrestrial networks, UAV communications, software-defined radio, and 5G/6G wireless communication systems.
Heikki Kokkinen received his Doctor of Science in Computer Science, Telecommunications software the Aalto University in 2010. He worked as Founder and CEO of Fairspectrum Oy (2010–2024). In 2024, he moved to VTT Technical Research Center of Finland as Principal Scientist. His research topics mainly include: Satellite communications, Earth Observation Systems, Radio spectrum management and Non-Terrestrial Networks.
Muhammad Asad Ullah is a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Center of Finland Ltd, Espoo, Finland. From 2018 to 2023, he was with the 6G Flagship at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland, where he completed his Master's studies (2020) and Ph.D. studies (with distinction, 2024) in Wireless Communication Engineering. His technical expertise includes modeling and performance analysis of wireless communications systems, with a particular focus on NTN.
Marko Höyhtyä is a professor of satellite communications at VTT, and author of a book "Satellite Communications and Networks". He has over 20 years’ experience in connectivity technology research and development both for terrestrial and satellite networks. His research interests cover 5G/6G technologies, resilient critical communications systems, and autonomous platforms. In addition to his VTT position, Marko is an associate professor (docent) at the National Defence University of Finland as well as at the University of Oulu. Prof. Höyhtyä is regularly an invited speaker and a panelist in international conferences, providing visionary insights to the broad fields of SatComs and critical communications.
Mikko Majanen received his MSc in theoretical physics from the University of Oulu in 2003. He is pursuing towards another MSc (Tech) and eventually PhD (Tech) in information engineering. He joined VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in 2000 and is now a Senior Scientist in the Future Communication Networks team. His work in communication networks has resulted in about 60 scientific publications out of which two has been awarded with the Best Paper Award. His research interests include mainly network simulations.
