Jill Murray holds an honorary lecturer position at Macquarie University, where she was employed from 2002 until her retirement in 2020. She holds a BSc and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sydney, an MSc.Soc from UNSW, and she completed her PhD on Strategic Competence and Classroom Communicative Activities at Macquarie University in 2000. She has taught, supervised and published in the fields of language teaching learning and assessment, intercultural and interlanguage pragmatics and community language maintenance. She currently divides her time between Sydney, the NSW South Coast, and Greece, where she continues to pursue her research in heritage language pragmatics.
