Dr. Chandrakanta Mahanty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at GITAM Deemed to be University, Visakhapatnam, with over 10 years of teaching and research experience. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, with research focused on biological data analysis using machine learning models and fuzzy rule mining, and is currently pursuing a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. Dr. Mahanty has published journal articles, including multiple Q1 and Q2 SCIE-indexed papers (Scopus: 36 [H-Index: 11], WoS: 27 [H-Index: 8]). His research contributions span healthcare AI, including COVID-19 detection, breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease prediction, diabetic retinopathy analysis, and educational data mining. He serves as a reviewer for more than 240 manuscripts across over 20 reputed international journals and is a member of the editorial boards of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio) and BMC Artificial Intelligence (Springer Nature). He is also a recipient of the MSME IDEA Hackathon 5.0 grant of ₹14 lakhs and the GITAM Seed Grant of ₹4.1 lakhs, reflecting his active engagement in funded research and innovation initiatives.
