Rawan Almujaydil received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Saudi Arabia from Qassim University in 2014 and went on to obtain a master’s degree in Periodontics from Malmo University, Sweden, in 2021. She is now pursuing a PhD in Periodontology at Eastman Dental Institute. Her research topics mainly include tissue regeneration, cell-based therapy, micrografting, and tissue engineering.
Dr. Conor McCann is an Associate Professor of Paediatric Regenerative Medicine at University College London. He completed his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2010. Following this, he joined the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. In 2017, he received the Guts UK Derek Butler Fellowship and secured further funding as a Principal Investigator, enabling his team to research gut development and regenerative cell therapies for gut diseases. Since 2022, Dr. McCann has co-led the INSPIRE program (https://hdbi.org/inspire) with Dr. Paula Alexandre. The program aims to inspire students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue higher education in science. His fields of research include clinical sciences, neurosciences, medical physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, paediatrics, hastroenterology and hepatology, and regenerative medicine (including stem cells).
Dr Linh Nguyen is an Associate Professor at University College London, London, United Kingdom, having taken the role on 1 October 2025. From 2019 to September 2025, she was a Lecturer in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at University College London. She previously completed postdoctoral training in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford (January 2016–March 2019) and in Regenerative Medicine at Soonchunhyang University (March 2012–October 2015), including roles as a postdoctoral research assistant and research associate. Her research concentrates on the interface of biomedical engineering, materials engineering, biochemistry, and cell biology, with a focus on developing advanced biomaterials for tissue regeneration.
Professor Francesco D’Aiuto is a Specialist Periodontist with extensive experience. He graduated in Dentistry with honours in 1997 and subsequently completed advanced postgraduate training in Periodontology in both Italy and the UK, including a clinical PhD and a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in Periodontology at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Professor D’Aiuto has previously held senior academic and clinical appointments at University College London and University College London Hospitals, serving as Professor of Periodontology and Honorary Consultant in Periodontology. In addition to his clinical work, he has been deeply involved in postgraduate education and has led and contributed to research in periodontal medicine and the links between oral and systemic health. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, received multiple international research awards, and is a widely recognised invited speaker in advanced periodontology.
