Rolando Salgado-Estrada received a B.S. degree in
civil engineering from Universidad Veracruzana in 1996; an M.S. degree in
engineering from UNAM in 1998, with a focus on structures; and a Ph.D.
degree in civil engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2009,
with a thesis dissertation titled “Damage Detection in Bridges Through its
Dynamic Response: Evaluation and Application.” In 2009, he worked as a
Structural Engineer for the consultant companies Viaponte and LCW in Lisbon,
Portugal. From 2004 to 2007, he was a Collaborator on the European project
“Sustainability of Bridges.” Since 2009, he has been a full-time Professor on the
Faculty of Engineering, Universidad Veracruzana, Campus Veracruz. He has been a
thesis supervisor of 37 undergraduate students, 11 master's students and 4 in-progress Ph.D. students. He has authored 25 articles in national and
international conferences, 9 indexed articles, and 5 refereed articles. His
research interests include seismic behavior of concrete structures, damage
detection in structures, dynamic simulation of cracked structures, vibration
problems in pedestrian bridges, wind analysis of structures and structural
behavior of complaint towers. He is a member of the Mexican Society of Seismic
Engineering (SMIS) and the National Researcher System (SNI level 1) given by
the National Council of Science, Humanities and Technology of Mexico
(Conahcyt) in the period from 2022 to 2026.
