Maciej Wojtczak received his MSc degree in Agricultural
Engineering from the University of Technology and Agriculture in Bydgoszcz in
1996, and his PhD degree in Chemical Technology from Lodz University of
Technology in 2001. He obtained his habilitation in Food Technology and
Nutrition at the University of Agriculture in Krakow in 2019, and is currently a
professor at the University of Lodz, Faculty of Chemistry, Department of
Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, where he is the Head of the Laboratory of
Atomic Spectrometry. Previously, he was a professor at Lodz University of
Technology, where he served as Head of the Specialized Laboratory of Sugar
Analysis (2007–2021) and Head of the Sugar Technology Team (2019–2021). He is
the President of the Board of the Association of Sugar Technologists in
Poland, an active member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society for
Sugar Technology, and the referee for Subject S5 “Chemical
Methods” of the International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis
(ICUMSA). His research topics mainly include food quality assessment and certification,
sugar technology and sugar beet processing, analytical methods for the food
industry, and chemical metrology, as well as trace element analysis. He has been a
leader and partner in numerous research and industry-driven projects related to
sugar technology, food quality assessment, analytical method validation,
proficiency testing, and accreditation of testing laboratories.
