Daniel Montero is a Full Professor in Aquaculture at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). He obtained his PhD in Marine Sciences from ULPGC in 1996 and completed postdoctoral research at the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Institute of Freshwater Ecology (UK). He also held a Ramón y Cajal fellowship from the Spanish government. His research focuses on fish physiology, nutrition, and welfare in aquaculture. He has published over 220 peer-reviewed papers and led several national and European research projects. His work has contributed to the understanding of nutritional modulation of stress and immune function in cultured fish and the development of sustainable aquafeeds. Professor Montero serves as reviewer and advisor for international aquaculture research programs and funding agencies and has done research with several aquaculture-related companies. His teaching covers aquaculture systems, fish physiology, health and nutrition. His research interests include fish health, immune response, lipid metabolism, and sustainable aquaculture practices.
