Kedir A. Hassen earned his Master of Science in Veterinary Public Health from Haramaya
University in 2020. He previously worked in a Research Laboratory
Technician at Haramaya University from 2018 to 2023, where he
contributed to a collaborative research project with the University of
Florida. In 2024, he relocated to Eduardo Mondlane University to begin
his PhD studies in Bioscience and Public Health. His research portfolio
primarily addresses critical issues in Antimicrobial Resistance, Zoonosis, and Food Safety, utilizing techniques in Microbiology, PCR and Genomic Sequencing with a focus on food-producing animals. He published 6 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact international journals as a co-author.
Laurinda Augusto de Sousa Associate Professor in Animal Reproduction at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), Mozambique since 20202. Completed her PhD in Animal Production with focus in Animal Productivity at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2015 and Master in Agriculture at Free State University, South Africa, in 1998. Graduated in Veterinary Medicine at UEM, Mozambique in 1991. Since 2020, Laurinda Augusto de Sousa is Deputy Dean for Post-Graduation and coordinator of the PhD program in Bio-sciences at the Veterinary Faculty, UEM. Previously she has been Course director of Veterinary Medicine, head of clinical department at the same institution. Since her graduation has been involved in research on Animal Reproduction particularly, Reproductive biotechnologies and teaching at the graduation and post graduation level; supervised/co-supervised 2 PhD students, 2 Master students and several course termination dissertation of graduation students. She published 17 peer reviewed papers in international journals and reviewed several articles in international journals.
Gudeta W. Sileshi holds a BSc degree in
biology from Addis Ababa University (1987), a master’s degree in agriculture
from Haramaya University (1994) in Ethiopia and a PhD degree in ecology from
Kenyatta University in Kenya (2001). He is a Fellow of the African
Academy of Sciences and the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences. He is currently an
Adjunct Professor of biology and biodiversity conservation at Addis
Ababa University in Ethiopia. From 2002-2014 he
worked as a scientist at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) based in Zambia
and Malawi, where he was also the regional representative of ICRAF’s southern
Africa program between 2011 and 2014. Before that, he worked as a Research Associate at
the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in
Kenya from 2000 and 2001, and as a Lecturer at Haramaya University of
Agriculture in Ethiopia (1987-1997). His main research interests is in production ecology linking
patterns and processes, and translating the knowledge into policy and practice
through research synthesis.
