Dr. Uttam Kumar Deb is an Associate Professor of Aquaculture and Fisheries Economics at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on the economic management of aquaculture, fisheries, and related fields, and he supervises both master’s and doctoral students. With over 30 years of international experience in agricultural and aquaculture development, Dr. Deb is actively engaged in research programs that advance the economic management of aquaculture and natural fisheries systems in the United States and abroad. Dr. Deb’s research interests encompass sensory evaluation, experimental auctions, agricultural development, aquaculture economics, fisheries trade, and international trade competitiveness. His policy-driven research has involved collaborations with institutions across South Asia and the United States to promote sustainable development and food security. Dr. Deb has an extensive publication record, with more than 300 works to his credit. These include 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, 11 books and monographs, 40 book chapters, 14 policy briefs, 115 conference/ seminar papers and abstracts, 32 working papers and research reports, and 36 poster papers. He is a reviewer for 15 leading scientific journals, a member of the Editorial Committee of South Asia Research, and an Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development (AJARD).

Madan Dey is an agricultural economist with more than 28 years of post-Ph.D. experience in teaching, research, outreach, and governance in a variety of agricultural and natural resources contexts. He is the Department Chair at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Texas State University, USA. He began his career in the economics of agricultural development, focusing on rice. He completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at the University of the Philippines in 1988. He completed his post-doctoral research on the agricultural economy of Asia under the mentorship of Professor Robert Evenson of Yale University from 1991 to 1993. His research interests include aquaculture and fisheries economics, food and agricultural sector modeling, international agricultural development, agricultural and food policy, food economics, agricultural markets, and price analysis.
