Prof. Dr. Nikolay Hinov is the Head of the
Department of Power Electronics, Faculty of Electronic Engineering and
Technologies, Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated from the
Technical University of Sofia with a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering
and Microelectronics in 1995 and holds a PhD in 1998. He began his professional
career at the Technical University of Sofia as an Assistant in 1999 and an
Associate Professor in Industrial Electronics in 2006 in the Department of
Power Electronics. His main fields of research and teaching include industrial
and power electronics, innovative methods for modeling and control of power
electronic converters, power electronic converters; analysis, modeling, and
control of power electronic devices and systems; systems for decentralized
generation of electricity from alternative and renewable energy sources;
electric and hybrid cars; smart cities and networks. He is a member of the
Board of the Union of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Communications
and IEEE.
