Dr. Daniel Ortuño Ortuño-Sahagún is Researcher Professor in
Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guadalajara and Visiting Professor
for the Masters in Neuroscience and Drug Development, University of Barcelona.
Awarded a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Cajal Institute (Spanish Research
Council), he has taught at under- and postgraduate level for 32 years, including
periods in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Alicante) and Germany
(Leipzig). He is Associate Editor for Molecular Medicine and Frontiers in Aging
Neurosciences, as well as Guest Editor for Frontiers in Cellular Neurosciences,
Lead Guest Editor for special issue "Natural Immunomodulators" in the
Journal of Immunology Research, and expert reviewer for 67 international
journals. He was formerly President of
the Sociedad Mexicana de Biología del Desarrollo and of the Sociedad Mexicana
de Ciencias Fisiológicas. His main research interests lie in elucidating the
molecular mechanisms that regulate gene expression during neuroinflammation,
alongside building knowledge of the molecular mechanisms involved in aging and
various neurodegenerative pathologies, such as multiple sclerosis and
Alzheimer's disease.
Professor Lenin Pavon is an immunologist and the Head of the Department of Psychoimmunology at the Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz in Mexico City, Mexico. His research focuses on neuroendocrine-immune interactions in stress, major depression, fibromyalgia, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease. Throughout his career, Professor Pavon has received numerous awards. He has published over 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 23 chapters in specialized books. According to Scopus, his work has been cited more than 3,400 times, and he has a Hirsch index (h-index) of 28. He has delivered more than 150 invited lectures at national and international academic events. Professor Pavon currently serves as a guest professor in postgraduate immunology programs at the leading universities in Mexico. He is the author of "Inmunología Molecular, Celular y Traslacional" and “COVID-19. Virología, inmunología, clínica y aproximación diagnóstica y terapéutica,” both published by Wolters Kluwer. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards of several journals and is a member of several scientific societies.
