António Manuel Marques de Queirós Pereira is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Physics, School of Sciences, University of Minho, and a permanent member of the Center of Physics of the University of Minho (CFUM) since 2011. He obtained his Ph.D. in Sciences (Physics) from the University of Minho in 2011, with a thesis entitled “Impact of Orthokeratology and LASIK Refractive Surgery on Corneal Topography, Central and Peripheral Refraction, and Visual Quality”.
His research focuses on refractive error and myopia progression, optical solutions for presbyopia and myopia control, optical quality, and intraocular pressure measurements. Throughout his academic career, he has authored 81 scientific papers (71 indexed in PubMed), delivered over 300 communications (including 40 invited talks), and accumulated over 1,700 citations (h-index = 23, ISI Web of Science, October 2025). His work has been recognized with 10 national and international awards. He has served on multiple scientific committees and acts as reviewer for over 20 peer-reviewed journals. He is currently editor for the Journal of Ophthalmology, Journal of Optometry, and Journal of Clinical Medicine, and guest editor of the special issue “New Frontiers in Myopia Progression in Children.” He is also the author of six book chapters and ten outreach articles and has participated in 60 academic juries (8 Ph.D. and 52 Master’s).
