Valentino Di Donato is an associate professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resources Sciences of the University of Naples "Federico II". His research focuses on Quaternary Paleoclimate reconstructions, Compositional Data Analysis, Regional Geology and Biostratigraphy. He is the author of numerous articles and publications, with 41 listed on Scopus and over 100 on Google Scholar.

Senior researcher at Institute of Marine Sciences (CNR) in Naples. Currently, her research is mainly focused on the ecology and paleoecology of benthic foraminifera and their response to coastal pollution. She is and has been involved in several national and international projects devoted to the extension of environmental micropaleontology, paleoecology, habitat mapping and cartography. She has developed skills in the management and planning of Research & Innovation projects. She published over 80 papers in international journals, 30 technical reports and participated in more than 30 oceanographic cruises. Ongoing main research includes the use of benthic foraminifera as bio-indicator, high resolution microscopy for the study of automated analysis of benthic specimens and habitat mapping. Currently participates in the PNRR Project ITINERIS - as participant in WP6 for Research Infrastructure DiSSCo, referent for the museum collections of Naples for RI DiSSCo and responsible for the micropaleontological collections (benthic foraminifera). She is part of the Working Group for the execution of the activities related to the participation of CNR-ISMAR in the European Research Infrastructure DiSSCo as scientific collections referent at SMAR Naples and expertise in taxonomy and palaeontology in the field of marine natural sciences.
